Retrofit/Code ACC Stop & Go - 2024 530i
Recently bought a 2024 530i – love it but the one option it is lacking is ACC Stop & Go. Has premium package, wish this was just added to the build for $650...
Any way to retrofit/code this feature? Used to having it as all my recent cars including M8 has that and use it a lot. Not sure if additional hardware is needed. |

I think the retrofitting will take a lot of effort as it requires sensors and radar not present in the build without the option.

I thought that the extra hardware was required for DAPP, but not ACC Stop & Go.

I think in the 2025 models it is being made so if you buy the car without it you can do the upgrade by purchasing it from BMW as a software download, but not the 2024 models.

Why 2025? I think the 2024 models currently have that capability. For example when in Efficiency mode it disables coasting and starts to regen when it detects a car in front even before you touch the brake pedal.

That is when you're using adaptive regeneration vs being in "B" mode. I don't think efficiency mode disables coasting since coasting is actually very efficient.

I have a 530i - I mean that the mild hybrid starts to regen (or whatever the correct terminology is) when it detects I am approaching a slower or stopped car even if I don't touch the brake. It stops coasting.

I actually tested this out today, and yeah I see what you mean. It automatically switches from coasting to regen and slows the car down on its own. Also when the car ahead of you pulls away it goes back to coasting. Hopefully the 2024 models also have the opportunity to purchase the stop & go from BMW and downloaded because it seems like att the needed hardware is already there.

I Just ordered a 2025 540iX. The ACC Stop & Go is part of the Premium package. It was also a part of the premium package for the 2024. But Not for the 530. Just for the 540. I am consistently surprised when I look at the differences between the 530 and 540. I had originally thought it was only the engine. But things like the interactive bar etc. Are standard on the 540, but either an additional option or unavailable in the 530.

AIUI that is done by camera not radar which is what the ACC with stop&go uses

BMW just say “various sensor data” for the G60, but I do know on previous models, they specifically mentioned that the camera analysed it for the equivalent mode where it would coast more when it was clear ahead. It is probably more advanced these days though and possibly uses radar if equipped.
Honestly I don’t know, in Australia driving assistant professional is standard equipment on all G60’s |
