Driver seat moving all the way back

Sometimes when I get into the car as the driver, the driver seat starts moving all the way back pretty fast making a strange noise (as if it is scratching against something) instead of moving forward to the saved position. I then have to use the memory button to get it to the saved position. It happens maybe 1-2 times per month.

Has anyone else observed this issue?

You’re probably referring to the feature called Comfort Exit.

With that, your seat will move backwards to give you more space for entry/exit. Once you buckle up, the seat should return to you saved driving position.

Nope.

Comfort access works as designed about 49 out of 50 times. But every once in a while when I get in the seat first moves a bit forward and then all the way back with a scratchy noise and very fast.

It’s rare so haven’t been bothered too much, and I can’t consistently replicate it. Just wondering if anyone has had the issue.

Sounds like a defective seat and potentially dangerous. You should bring it in to your dealership for diagnosis. Good luck!

I’ve not heard or experienced anything like this with my i5 M60 after 5months ownership. Agree with Silvermember that this should go to the dealer.

I am also having issues with my seat. Whenever i used to open my door before, the seat used to go back as expected for comfort entry, but it does not move when I open the door anymore. Also, when I turn off the car to exit, it goes forward and then slightly back. Something seems to be off because it is operating very unusually. Also, I have tried resetting my seat, turning on/off comfort entry/exit. Taking it to the dealership soon.

I think comfort entry may be activated by buckling/unbuckling the seatbelt rather than the door - certainly that’s true when I get into the car. I’m blanking if the reverse is true on exit.

Yes, that might be the case as well. But it is working weirdly when buckling/unbuckling seatbelt as well.

Yes, comfort access is related to buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt.

Just started having problems as well. When I unbuckle my seatbelt, the seat moves back as advertised but instantly moves back forward even past my saved seat position.

Same exact thing happening to me. Curious -- if you adjust the seat to the maximum range in the back, does it ALSO automatically go forward?

Can't believe a $94,000 vehicle new is having bullshit issues like this. Like, come on. How does something like this even happen?

Yeah dude, after paying so much money for this car and this the problem I’m having after this feature has been in previous models. I have an appointment with the dealership next week so hopefully they can fix the problem.

Can you try something?

I notice that if I move the seat all the way to the back of the track, it stops then moves itself all the way forward. I did this, then hit Seat Position 1, and it went to its normal seat position. I inched the seat forward a tiny amount and set that to position 1, and it works without issue.

I don't think the issue is a problem with comfort exit at this point, but a problem with the seat hitting the back of the track.

Also curious -- before it started going all the way forward, did you notice that it would go back like normal, stop, then adjust forward a slight amount? Mine did that for a few weeks before it started going all the way forward today.

I just tried what you recommended and you are 100% right. The problem was the seat hitting the back of the track which makes the seat go forward automatically. It works fine now.

Yeah I also had that problem for a couple weeks then I eventually turned off comfort exit because it was annoying.

When the seat is moving forward after buckling seatbelt, you cannot push / apply pressure to the seat backwards. That will cause the forward movement to be cancelled.

I will check if this is the issue, which seems to happen once every couple of weeks.

I have some thing similar and I have to press the pre set button to return the seating position. Never happened while driving though, normally happen after entering the car but can’t tell the detail.

Calibrating the front seat
1.Press the longitudinal direction switch for-ward until the seat stops.
2.Press the switch forward and hold it untilthe seat stops moving forward.
3.Readjust the seat to the desired position.

As soon as the message on the control display disappears, the calibration is complete. If the message remains active, repeat the calibration. If the message is still shown after repeated calibration, have the vehicle checked by an authorized service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.
