Extended warranties
With the complexity of these cars I've been poking around. After some online research I've found some consensus that Endurance seems to be viewed as the best option.
However when I called I was given a quote of $7328 for a policy that covers everything other than wiper blades, tires and the like subject to a $100 deductible per repair (regardless of how many things are to be repaired) which would be paid directly to the repair shop/dealership by them. This policy would be in effect for six years or 125k miles, whichever comes first. But the hitch is that this takes effect now (or actually after 30 days) which really doesn't make sense as the car is fully covered for four years/50k by BMW itself. So I'd effectively only be buying this to take me from 50k miles to 125k. Any thoughts or recommendations would be welcomed. |

Usually it is best to wait to buy an extended warranty until you are close to the factory warranty expiring. It may cost more, but many things can happen in between. Also you will be able to gauge what types of issues you had in the first 4 years or 50k miles to determine whether it is actually needed. I just traded in my Tesla Model S with 82,000 miles and did not buy the extended warranty. Maybe I was lucky but I only had a few hundred dollars in repairs. The electric cars “should have less maintenance. Just my .02.

Our extended warranty provider Fidelity for example is very mileage sensitive when it comes to pricing, essentially every 10K miles you jump another mileage based pricing tier, so there are potentially thousands of dollars in savings by purchasing the desired length of extended warranty coverage while still under factory warranty when the milage on the vehicle is low. If anyone has any questions or would like to run though some "milage vs. pricing" scenarios, my information is below. Trenton O.
