I’m still learning the ambient light modes on mine,
Last few cars you could choose colors, this one seems to be dictated solely by when driving mode you have it in, maybe I haven’t found the right menu? I’m 5 days into the car so still learning this one’s 8.5 features

If you search for ambient in iDrive you should be able to customize the colors in personal mode only.

I like the orange, gold, purple, and all the blues. Pink should be deleted permanently.

Purple and pink (flamingo) are favs of mine, but the blues looks so good too. The past 3 weeks or so, I have kept it on orange (papaya) and it reminds me of BMWs iconic orange cockpits of yesteryear.

I am not a fan personally of the gold/yellow/rose/white and the green is just too green for me (but my son loves the green).

I ride in personal mode and mostly reddish colors on the bars. Matches the exterior color of my car.

I like the Papaya, but it sort of clashes with the red exterior. I don't want to use red because I like to reserve that for sport mode. So, I've been using purple for the past couple of days and it's grown on me.

My last few cars (i4, iX and now i5) do not offer "red" for ambient lighting. Sport mode in my new i5 is red/white/blue mixed. Not yours?

It's probably the same as yours, I'll have to check. Actually, I have not even put the car into Sport mode yet! I've been keeping it in personal mode and tried economy mode once for about 30 seconds (literally). I'm just being extra safe until the 300 mile break-in is over, then I'll have more fun. However, I will try Sport mode tomorrow and let you know if the colors are any different (I doubt it).

At least by driving in sport, you can avoid rose. I’ve always had a deep hatred of pink because it seems to be forced on women. Try and find motorcycle gear without pink. It’s getting better now, but for a long time, women were doomed to wear leather with pink trim.

MAX. Love the ambient lighting! It makes the new 5er feel and look like a 7 Series!

I settled on dark blue for now. I find it soothing. But there are a to of subtleties with ambient lighting, like the white tint on the speakers, which was so understated I initially thought it wasn't working.
