Anyone else having issues with the clock auto time setting?
Mine didn't advance the clock one hour for Daylight Savings Time. I took it off auto and advanced it myself and then re-checked the auto box and so far it's holding the correct time.
Is there any other way to fix this? |

First BMW I have had with automatic time changing that did not work...my i5 did NOT correct the time.
My iDrive was set to Automatic Time & the correct Los Angeles Zone...but did not change. I too had to deactivate Automatic time & then manually set the time. Last edited by deutsch100; 03-11-2024 at 05:43 PM.. |

Same here. I unchecked automatic time, waited a few seconds then re-engaged automatic time. Clock changed to correct time but don't know why it did not do it automatically for the time change to DST.

It has not worked in any BMW with automatic time setting for as long as I have had I drive. Which is around 2004

I manually set it up this morning. I work in IT and this irritates me.

I had to manually set mine. When I select the auto it doesn’t allow me to select eastern time. It is stuck in Berlin time.
Being my first BMW I figured random things would break. So far windshield (not BMWs fault) and the clock… |

But what is more irritating....the automatic (DST) worked in our M3, XM, iX, B8, i4, 530e, 7 Series, X5s, two i3S, M8, etc...

Mine didn’t have the auto time zone set, but when I toggled it on it correctly got me on pacific time.
There’s another thread where a user has noted that their dealer suggested a back-end server issue that is affecting some (but not all) cars (edit - that post was in January, but the OP is apparently chasing up) Quote:

Oh! It’s not just me. That’s a software bug
I wonder how long before BMW addresses it. |

If it's defaulting to Berlin, it makes sense it hasn't changed yet, since DST is one week off from the US in Europe. I suspect that it will change on its own next week.

This is happening to some iX too, according to the Bimmerpost Forum.
I wonder if this is only affecting iDrive 8.5? Our other BMWs are running iDrive 8, and the auto time change/DST worked perfectly. My i5...not so much :/ |

With OTA tech we should be able to "submit a ticket" or provide some kinda feedback right there from within the idrive interface.
Imagine HQ getting bombarded with negative rating of such a basic feature. I am pretty sure the fix would come faster. |

Ha! I meant to post about this as well. My automatic time setting puts me in Berlin as well. So strange. Hoping a fix is deployed OTA or server side so we don’t have to bring it in.

Automatic time zone incorrectly sets my clock to Berlin, too. I did go to the dealer but they were unable to fix it, even after two days of attempts.

Given how software dev is done these days, by the time that they can fix it, test it and distribute it, the problem will already have been solved next week. It will be added to the backlog and fixed with other future enhancements.
Someone in Germany must have forgotten the different rules in other parts of the world. Working with colleagues in Europe during this time is kind of annoying since your meeting times are all screwy. |
