EVO mag shoot-out: GTR vs. Z06, R8, & GT3
The car is amazing.
http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22031 No more debating, no more excuses. This car has surpassed all expectations, and it definitely needs to be recognized as the supercar that it is. |

Well, IMO, for those of you that would choose the GT3 over the GTR. Think about the GTR with some weight reduction. I'm sure the thing has lots of unnecessary weight that can be trimmed off vs. the GT3 which is already super light weight.

It still hasn't beaten the Z06 on a road course, and didn't beat it in the 0-100-0 test when driver reaction time was removed. That "test" was a hack job.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/29/l...oming-in-2010/ http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2007/12...c-scooped.html The GT-R just does nothing for me. Granted, I know very little about cars and I've never driven on a track, but...Porsche inspires. BMW inspires. Ferrari, Lotus, blah blah blah. I want to tear around a track on those. Nissan? meh. It looks like a car designed for a video game. Just doesn't get me going. Maybe a sucker for the European sports car hype.

don't care for it either...however, I did have fun driving that tuned r32 in japan. I would have to take the porsche over the rest (assuming I could ever afford any of them.)

Setting heritage aside, from a simple styling standpoint, it doesn't grab me.

Sure it does, but that time wasn't done by an independent tester, and it was a pre-production car. Besides that, there are a ton of variables that play into the time on a track that long, not the least of which are temperature and weather. I just don't get why none of these magazines have put the two cars on the same track on the same day with the same driver. It doesn't make since. How in the world did Evo take a lightweight track monster like the Z06 and decided that the best way to compare it to the GTR was in a drag race....WTF?! :iono: |

Another one from Road and track.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6594 "The GT-R's handling was in a league by itself. The suspension felt more compliant than the Japan-spec model's, yet still provided unbelievable stability through all variety of corners. Just when you think you feel the rear end coming out, stay on the throttle and let the ATTESA E-TS awd system do its thing. It'll immediately transfer as much as 50 percent of the engine torque to the front wheels (the torque split for normal driving is 2/98), stabilizing the car without sacrificing speed. The Nissan's handling balance is so spectacular that it registered 1.01g on the skidpad and romped through the slalom at an impressive 73.4 mph, about 3 mph faster than the others (and faster than the Ferrari Enzo)." Buttonwillow Raceway 911 Turbo: 2:02.1 Z06: 2:02.1 GT-R: 1:56.9 I think the number speaks for itself. I guess no need to rub it in on anybody. |

Finally a real test. I'm damn impressed. I expected it to be very close, but in the Z06s favor because of the weight. Nissan's done a great job overcoming that with this car. If they're able to shave a couple of hundred pounds off with a V Spec version it's going to be a holy terror. |
