how effective is the emergency braking on the G60 in the US?
how effective is the emergency braking on the G60 in the US? (either driving normally on city streets and highways... or when using cruise control)
the reason I'm asking is that on my 2023 X1, it doesn't do much, even if the car ahead of me performs a panic stop from 45mph to 0. The tech at the dealer told me that it was normal because the X1 wasn't capable of doing too much in that kind of situation. Will my 530i be better at emergency braking?(car ahead in a panic stop at 45mph) Thanks! |

In assisted driving mode my car stopped from about 45 to 0 violently on the highway. I figure someone must have brake checked a tailgater further up.

Emergency braking, without any active driver assist being on (e.g. DAP) tend to be effective to only about 30 (maybe 40mph on extreme cases) since this is what regulators test for. Any higher than that, then cars typically brake less (if they even brake at all), and just warn.
I haven't seen any tests for the G60 regarding this, but I wouldn't expect it to be any different unless regulations change. Edit: G60 manual states that brake intervention can occur at speeds up tp 155mph, with only brief brake intervention at speeds above 130mph. Last edited by arkhi; 02-22-2024 at 08:31 PM.. |
