…would you snap? If so, how many times would you effectively roll the dice knowing a snap could potentially end your life immediately if you unknowingly had less than a month to live?

That’s part of what spawned the question. Some people would snap without even giving it a second thought and others likely wouldn’t do it at all. I would imagine if this hypothetical became a reality, we’d witness thousands of instant deaths around the globe.

People have done worse than snap, even though this snap takes a month off their life, for money, as you know being a LEO. Look at all the crime and murder that people commit for money.

This is a great question, and very nuanced to answer too quickly.
Sure, time is more precious than money, but so is quality of life more important than length of life.

If I knew the last 6 to 12 months were going to be spent with someone else having to wipe my ass, or suffering from an incurable disease, I may be tempted to snap and donate that money to a worthwhile cause that could make a difference for example...

My Dad is 93 and still going strong - healthy as can be, lives on his own, does his own shopping, etc. And no one else has to wipe his ass LOL. So for him, snapping wouldn't have been the right choice.

I am fortunate in that I don't need the money, but I would like to think I could have helped make a difference now with a few snaps rather than just living in a state I wouldn't want to be in. I think I might snap a few times...

Thanks for the perspective. I agree that it’s a highly nuanced consideration and the answer/action(s) would depend on the person’s vantage point (…e.g…like your terminal condition example).

If I knew it would take the last month off my life, I’d snap, because I have a pretty good idea how my health will go, and assuming no other cause brings me to my grave earlier. If it was going to take a good month off, no chance of snapping.

What good is a 100-room mansion if you're confined to one room?
What good is having a beautiful spouse if you don't want to spend time with them because you feel like crap all the time?

I said "might," but maybe you're right. It would depend on the person and the circumstances. We're all different. What one person might do may be completely different than what someone else might do.

Maybe holding the hand of your loved one for a little longer would be reason enough.
