Continuing the interior-quality-is-subpar theme, today the rear door quarter-window privacy screen flew off when I opened the door. The entire mechanism detached itself from the door and landed on the street and cracked. I was able to reassemble it (even with the crack) and install it, then checked the other side and realized it was only partially clipped into the door/glass frame.
Also checked the door handles and realized the rubber pads at the base of the grab bars on both doors were out of place. Could be an early build issue but it’s an issue nonetheless. |

That’s a bummer - hopefully your dealer will make this right.

Yesterday, I was at a mall where some construction was going on. There was a concrete curb to block off an area. So, I did a 3-point turn to head back. While I was reversing, the parking sensor didn’t beep or notify me of the curb. Backed over it, now I have curb rash on one of my wheels. The curb was painted red, so I will need to sand that paint off as well. Obstruction was too small for the sensor but big enough to scratch up my wheel.

That's tough luck, hopefully you can make it look better.
I suppose we now know for certain that the sensors do not "watch for" curbs. I suppose they are only designed to watch for larger objects like walls or cars. Good to know - thanks for sharing. |

Sensors and curbs
The sensors do a good job alerting me to normal 6 inch high curbs when parking my '22 G30. Perhaps BMW cheapened those as well?

This was not a 6 inch street curb. It was maybe 4 inches. They painted it red, probably because people just hit it. There is nothing but concrete on either side of it. I’m not sure why it was even there.

This is a defunct restaurant. The circled part it the curb that for some reason they thought was a good idea to separate some parking spaces.

I wasn’t looking at the camera, to be honest. The sun glare was horrific. Really couldn’t see anything. When the sun comes out in northern Washington, the angle is particularly blinding. That’s why an audio alert would have been nice. Just barely hit with my right rear. It will sand out just fine. I just thought an audio alert would have been appropriate.

Did you make sure all your parking sensors are turned on? The side sensors are not turned on by default. I saw a video some time ago referencing this where the reviewer was backing into a parking space at a weird angle and almost hit another car.
