It’s bizarre really isn’t it that a more expensive car is cheaper to “buy” than a cheaper one.
When I say buy obviously I mean lease but you know what I mean I think the whole leasing method has made cars , not just this one , more expensive as another £50 per month doesn’t seem too bad as opposed to a higher upfront cost |

I stopped watching at "Car was dropped off with 93% battery charge and predicted range of 204 miles". This is beyond inconvenient on a highway cruiser.
Waiting for my 540... |

Yeh that range doesn’t work for me either . If I have 93% of my fuel tank of my 550 I have a range of nearly 400 miles sometime more depending upon how I drive
This model is arguably the replacement for the m550 , performance figures are similar but if you drive the m60 enthusiiaatically, I fear you won’t be going long distances I’m sure this works for some, not for me though for this and a number of other reasons |

Range is important if you do long distances but I'd argue that once your car can do about 250 miles on a charge speed of charge and charging infrastructure becomes everything, since anyway you still have to stop once in a while for breaks. |

I noticed he was pleased with the fact that the car had two wireless chargers up front a la Tesla, but in reality, only one is a charger. The other one is just a tray. At least that’s how it is on my US car.

You can bet that a review car has been driven aggressively and that’s geeked the range algorithm. That being said, I think I’m getting closer to a 265-270mile range on my i5 M60 based on a month and a half of real-world driving.

Just watched this a second time and what he said was the M5 would be less money factoring 40k lower purchase price, higher running costs and better residual value than a new i5 M60. It’s at the 18:45 point of the video. Doesn’t matter to me because I’m not getting one as a company car and I’m only considering the 540i.

I thought it was funny that he compared a V8 gas guzzler to an EV but it makes sense if his primary concerns are performance and driving pleasure. To each his own, but I think *most* people don't cross shop ICE cars with huge engines and EVs; they are totally different animals.

To buy a used M5 for £75k with NO maintenance, insurance tax etc over 3yrs with 20k miles a year works out to be £1628 with a final payment of £35k, or £2407 a month to own outright after. As I said, it’s a no brainier…..financially at least. |

Out of interest, those in the U.K. may notice that the road he was on the same road that other YouTubers use, namely harry metcalfe and “number 27”
I’ve driven on it myself and it is a good driving road , can see why they choose it That s bend with the dip is quite a challenging bend. On my m550, the satnav warns you about this being a dangerous curve |

Also, I really don't think this is a good M550 replacement. Its more like a smaller 7 series. If you love the BMW badge, smooth ride, tech, and refinement, its a great car. If you want anything else, including a true sports sedan, its not really it. |

I now want a X7 40d with a gazillion miles per tank of diesel while they figure out how to make EVs with more range ... Now where do I dig a hole to find that pot of money...

I’ve had a ‘15 M5 and loved it, I’ve had a Clio V6, a Subaru Impreza STI blobeye, an Audi S6 V10….and I LOVE the noise… the drama….. But I love acceleration, because speed means nothing. Acceleration is what you feel. Electric cars have that in abundance…… I’m coming from a Tesla 3 performance which has been brilliant. I’ve loved every minute, apart from auto wipers lol. Merc’s look awful, Audi Etron gt is old now, porsche Taycan is nice looking but again old, and ridiculous option list makes leasing unrealistic. Sooooo, that’s why BMW i5 M60 is my choice……best of all worlds as I can work out…. |
