I was scheduled to finally pickup my G60 540xi today at 5:00 pm after months of tracking its build progress. My sales advisor calls me around 2:00 pm to tell me that during their final pre-delivery inspection, the car throws a check engine light. So at this stage, I have no idea of how severe of a problem this is or if/when I will be able to take delivery. Needless to say it's been a pretty disappointing day.

I will update this thread when I find out more information.

It’s not a real BMW if it’s not delivered with a factory CEL. Nothing to worry about, it just means you got an authentic product.

Very sorry to hear that. I can only imagine your frustration. I'm sure they'll get everything resolved in no time and deliver your car to you in 100% perfect condition.

UPDATE. Turns out the code related to the steering rack. Service manager said car drove fine and after talking to BMW they were instructed to reprogram the car. After the reprogramming everything looks good, so I am taking delivery later this evening.

I will post pictures and my initial impressions after I get the car in another thread.

it's not a real BMW if it's not manufactured/assembled on German soil.(and preferably at BMW factories located on land not formerly controlled by the DDR government) there, I said it.... hope the flame retardant suit works
