Overpriced. And the lack of a CD drive is a big problem. People will buy it only because of the form factor (just like every Apple product).

Its a very very nice laptop. There are still some problems with the wireless cd drive and remote desktop, but overall its been very impressive.

I would break it into thin air. Without even intending to.
Cool Mac Book though. I want a black Mac Book myself. Going to get the wife a i-Mac first to see how it goes. I'd have to run VPC if I got one because of the work I do.

They missed the mark on this one. It has the same footprint as the macbook, and footprint in my view is what the market is after.
Should have made the case the same size as the screen or as close as possible, and made it slightly thicker. Also, not being able to fit 1.8" drives over 5mm thick is baffling, who cares if it is an extra 2mm thick if it means its an inch shorter/shallower with a bigger+faster drive. SSD is a joke. Would also be nice to see some drive monitoring junk to help manage the slow drive. Baffling! Hopefully the next macbooks will have a smaller footprint and that's why they made the air so big and skinny. |

A flawed product that hold's some real promise (I have the same feeling about the iPhone). The NEXT version of the Air is going to be more tempting (I feel the same way about the iPhone).
Wouldn't get one...concerned my son might mistake it for a big cracker and try to eat it.

Got one about 2 months ago, along with an apple airport so it's wireless anywhere in the house. Changed my life. Can't say enough great things about this amazing LITTLE computer.

I am truly sorry, but even if you have money coming out of your @$$. The MacBook Air is not worth it. Sure it's small. But, think of it as an expensive Gucci handbag for your girlfriend/wife. It's just to show-off. If you want a good laptop get an asus or something.

Can you run MacOS on an Asus? Don't think so, so not really a valid alternative to a MacBook Air.

i think its main flaw is the price. i knew i was going to go Apple with my next laptop, but when i compared the two i liked the specs of the plain-vanilla Macbook better, for about $600-700 less.
i should be in the Air's target market - i'm not above paying more money for a better form factor, AND i'm one of those people who travels a lot. but i still couldn't justify forking out the extra cash for the Air. maybe Apple shot itself in the foot with the Air by already having a phenomenal product on the market for much much less. |
