I believe it’s just a valve adjustment and an oil change. Your horsepower and torque were completely locked at 300 engine miles.

They probably used to work at AT&T too. I snagged this photo from another forum post as every M vehicle is due for the 1,200 mile service. I can’t imagine it’s much different on an XM.

I’m really curious what the line items are for this. I don’t think they’re much different than what I shared earlier. I should finally hit 1,200 miles on the engine after this weekend, so I will ask my service advisor tomorrow. Glad to hear you feel like it made a difference! These things are such beasts!

13K miles here - nice and smooth & finally down to my semi-permanent M1&2 settings. Best mod I did was down to 21 rims - much smoother ride.

Run in service unlocks no extra power or launch control. Oil change and rear diff fluid change. Deactivate run in service light on dash and done.

just means you can smash on it if you like.
the stigma for the most part of the 1200 mile service is to be gentle and break things in. yes the fluids etc.. change is part of the procedure that are also in place.

I would think that we should drive peacefully until the break in service. During the running in there will be residu an all go in the oil. Until it's refreshed and oil filters changed, like in the old days I would be super gently with my XM

Note that if you want to get to the break-in period quicker, make sure you operate with engine only. It’s 300 miles/1200 miles on the engine itself, not the overall miles.. |
