Is it a good idea to paint or vinyl wrap the lower black trim to match body color?

on the new 5-series, there's a lot of black lower trim... doesn't matter if it has the M Sport package with M Sport bumpers or not. So that's how I ended up ordering the black sapphire color, which basically makes everything black.

my friend suggests that I should just get whatever color that I really want and have the black trim pieces(the side skirts, lower parts of front and rear bumpers) painted to match the rest of the car... or have them vinyl wrapped.

Is that a good idea? If so, I may just change it to oxide grey color, which is closer to silver that I like.

Thanks!

There will still be a difference in color and finish especially if you wrap. If that's your expectation as well then it's actually not a bad idea.

I ordered a black sapphire metallic, planning to clear-wrap all the black trim parts for protection. At some point I was contemplating a carbon fiber texture wrap on the black trims, but eventually decided against it (a little too tacky)

oxide grey apparently is not a new BMW color, perhaps I'll go ask some wrap installer to see if there's a wrap matching that color first.

on the other hand, I have always believe that a proper BMW should be black on black on black(black exterior, black interior, black wheels) The only thing that concerns me is how much work it will take to care for black paint. Last time I had a black car was over 20 years ago. It was a massive Lincoln Navigator in black and washing/polishing it was no fun.

It's a lot of work to properly maintain a black car, but I think it's totally worth it. I do enjoy washing the car by myself though so that certainly helped.

I wash all of my cars myself 99% of the time, ever since an automatic car wash sheared of the hood ornament of my Mercedes 10 years ago.

Also, I seemed to have become addicted to the foam cannon when I wash the cars by myself. I now buy them in gallon-size jugs.
