LC 500 too big?

Seriously considering the move to a 2022 and up LC 500 Coupe from my 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 manual.

Lately I have been feeling like a GT car fits me better.

The LC seems to tick quite a few boxes for me.

1. unique and rare
2. beautiful
3. reliable
4. sounds amazing
5. naturally aspirated
6. DCT like transmission (I need this as a manual lover)

I have yet to drive one and intend to do so before making the move but interested in hearing from people on here who have experience with the LC. (a 20 to 30 minute test drive can only tell you so much)

I tend to like manual, small, compact cars with good outward visibility. The LC would be a big departure from that, but offers an amazing ride and good clearance which makes driving in a city with horrible roads more enjoyable. On the other hand its sheer size makes me wonder how it would be to live with in a city with tight roads and parking.

I am wondering how long you actually own a car before moving on.

For the reasons you list is why I’m waiting for an M2. I think the Lexus s interesting but will probably handle like a boat compared to the 718. I miss my GTS 4.0 terribly but my wife needed an SUV so swapped for a Macan.

To each their own. I try hard to like Lexus aesthetics, but I am not able to achieve this state of mind. They are...ugly. Subjective, I realize.

No question about Lexus reliability. Toyota and Honda are kings of the industry in this regard.

I've had a 2014 Cayman S, 2016 Cayman S and now the 2022 GTS 4.0, so essentially the same car for about 7 years. That's a long time with basically the same car (with a few in between).

handling won't be on the same level of course, but I don't find that's something I really care about that much anymore.I think I've reached that age where ride comfort matters more than handling!

Are you getting the G87?

I remember you cycling through several cars in between. Maybe you never bought any of them or I am misremembering.

The M2 was built in early July, still waiting to be shipped.

I don't find the Lexus 10AT to be a "DCT like transmission" but the other items on your list are indeed true. Going to any car from a Cayman will feel like a monster in size, so regardless of your pick, you will likely need to adjust. The length isn't too bad at 187", as its between compact and midsize, but the width will be most noticeable.

2016 BMW M3  [0.00]
Make sure you get one with Performance package and that it has Rear wheel steering.

Its a great car in my experience but definitely not as dynamic/sporty like a Cayman.

I think a 911 would be a better solution.

The LC is much more engaging to drive than M850.
The inputs and sound of the car are on another level.

honestly looking for a completely different experience than porsche, a 911 is obv different from a cayman but not as different as an LC is, plus the lexus offers a better ride and a quieter driving experience, I am afraid I am moving away from my spirited driving preference to more of a cruising preference and the LC fits that better than a 911.

I love my LC500. I bought it new and will never sell it. Ever.

1- The ten speed is surprisingly good. Not quite at DCT level but that is not the car’s mission. Jason Cammisa did a good video explaining what the propose of the car is. It’s a luxury GT car. It’s not going to hang with an M8, as that’s not why it was built.
2- Long live that glorious NA V8 noise. I put an exhaust valve controller in it and it growls 100% of the time now.
3- If you swap cars frequently, longevity isn’t really a concern for you. But I have no doubt I could run this car to 200,000 miles with little more than basic maintenance and minor repairs. There are people still tracking this engine at a quarter million miles.
4- Looks are 100% subjective, but to me this car is stunning. Many other Lexus models can’t pull off the look, but the LC can. However, I find most newer BMW designs to be bizarrely hideous monstrosities.
5- If you get one, the first thing you need to do is swap the shitty Bridgestone run flats for MPS4S. Massive change in ride quality, handling and road noise.

I think the LC 500 is one of the best looking cars on the road. Haven’t driven one but can’t imagine it wouldn’t be a fantastic blend of luxury and sportiness.

I'm the opposite. I like their exterior styling, but the rest of the stuff just does nothing for me

i've driven two. 2018 and a 2022 convertible. Great cars. They are cruisers that look like a sports car... kind of like an aston martin DB11. But not really a sports car. I had one as a rental in LA and it was wonderful there. I'd be downshifting any chance i got. the seats are perfect. the build quality is perfect. the paint quality is very upscale.

being so rare it looks like nothing else on the road.

if it was my money ... i'd probably get a used corvette z51 3lt. yeah yeah its a corvette and its not as pretty... but it has a proper DCT, strong v8, ideal mid engine placement, mag ride, better infotainment, weighs like 600 pounds less, you get a targa roof, etc . plus vettes have an established history and its easier to offload.

I definitely enjoy my Targa and will hopefully continue to own it but it’s not luxury car quiet.

never pulled the trigger on an R8, looking back I wish I had, there was a 2012 gated v10 with 30000 km that was a great example that I passed on for reasons that look dumb now

never driven the C8, but I think it's even bigger than the LC and I had a C7 and wasn't a fan

the LC is 5"taller, and 5" longer. The c8 is 0.5" wider.

The LC has better overall proportions though. not one bad angle on the car.
