I’m not a fan of frozen paint, but it looks pretty good in these photographs.
Thanks for posting.

It appears to be parked over a pool, or is that some Jedi mind trick.
It’s not a bad looking car relative to the exterior of the 7 |

The rear is so generic and the front is so busy. As if, the car was put together after it was designed by a class of middle school kids that were distracted by a party outside!

If I wanted frozen paint I would get the whole car done with the stealth PPF. Same basic look but way easier to maintain

I was a staunch defender of the g80 grills. Felt like they were a necessary evil for the brand. Being a product design executive myself I understand the need to balance business goals, user needs, and sometimes just blowing things
up because you and your team are tired of honoring things that happened 200 years ago and need to be inspired and challenged and pushed. This is none of that. This thing is proportioned to be the size of a pickup from the late 80s early 90s. Everything is exaggerated like the crown molding and cabinetry in a McMansion in a Texas suburb. They are trying really hard to exude luxury and confidence and aggressiveness all at once. I have no idea where to rest my eyes. I can’t even sit back and take it in. I can’t imagine it’s any better in person. At least the g80 went in a completely new direction. This thing is just taking the BMW cookie cutter design language and bending it and extruding and exaggerating until engineering and finance told them to knock it off. The back which looked great at the time is starting to already age and wear on me, and not in a good way. This is the first miss, arguably since the e60 (a lot of revisionist history on that car. Admit most of you hated it back then). The e63 is going to absolutely clean up this generation. |

18 months in now with FDG (frozen deep grey) G82.
Anyone who thinks it’s high maintenance or stealth PPF over gloss is the answer, fair enough. In the real world neither are true. Even today my nephew wanted to take pictures of the car downtown (he’s into photography) in todays light conditions the paint showed hues I’ve never seen. Stealth PPF, yes maybe over black it can capture some of that matte look. But frozen deep grey has many surprises, even after 18 months. Simple PH neutral wash shampoo, and dry. No swirls, no holograms on my car, looks like new. Yes, if it’s damaged and needs paint it’s a problem. But I’d get rid of any car after bodywork, it’s just the way I am so I’ll enjoy it until that happens. And PPF installs, if Steve jobs is aplying it I’m all in…. I’m enjoying the paint I paid for, worth every penny.

I was hyper critical of the G80/82 but now i'm a two time owner. Hypocrite i know. I'm jumping on the G60 bandwagon, i love it. Just wish it wasnt 200" in length. |
