This is such a weirdly polarizing car for me.

On the one hand I think this is the best iteration of the modern monolithic styling they’re going for. It still looks like it belongs to the BMW family (unlike some other recent cars….)

On the other hand some angles of this car are just.. really jarring to look at.

Precisely!

I think I like it enough to buy it. I was going to go for a Taycan 4s but I might wait and see this M60 I 5 first.

This is the only full-electric powertrain I'd mess with. Obviously the Taycan's gorgeous but too pricey for me.

I 100% agree. Some angles, it's like oh ok I see what theyre going for, looks good. other angles, ew what are they doing... definitely looking forward to seeing this in person. I think I like it overall though

I imagine is has to do with M tuning and parts that have been added and sure, marketing. BMW made a distinction in the naming between "M-lite" and full-M cars to avoid confusion. Pretty clear in my opinion.

youre exactly right, but the question was why they have M badges, there's no m-lite badge for the ICE ones and they still get the M badge. I'm just saying, don't criticize only the EVs for the m-lite versions when every single ICE has the same thing

Same here re: Taycan 4S. Not loving the fact that the I5 is longer than the Taycan. They're not too far off but no doubt the Taycan wears its length better.

Now that I’ve seen how flat the hood is going up to that higher front belt line I can’t unsee it. The front end is more like the older F-Series 5-GT… too tall and awkward for what is supposed to be a low slung super sedan.

The only good thing I have to say about it is I’m glad the hood line blends in with the top of the grill instead of just making it a straight line 3-4 inches above the top of the grill. Everything else 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
