F30 GTS Hood Lift Supports?

What brand/model lift support hood struts are you guys using with the GTS aluminum hood on a F30? I heard the stock ones are too strong. I don't have the original struts to test. I need to purchase a set soon for my new hood. I have a 13 335i Sport.

Wow.. Nobody has a GTS Aluminum Hood on forum??? I have looked all over trying to get a simple answer but to no avail. I guess I have to start buying gas struts, try them and return what doesn't work. Thanks guys.

I've got one and the standard struts are fine. As far as I know 3 or 4 other people have the same and I don't think they've changed the struts

You'd only need different struts if the hood was heavier.

I have one on my 435 - kept the stock struts = no problems

The OEM ones are a bit too strong for carbon/fiberglass and for aluminium they're just "okay".

For my old carbon hood I had to drop a strut on one side. With my aluminium one now I have both attached. I have to be careful though as it does require quite a bit of force which flexes the hood.

I have a GTS hood and I think the stock struts are way too strong and causes bending. I believe the M4 GTS/M3 CS struts fit if I remember correctly. I’ll likely upgrade to those.
