i think i need stronger car wash

i have a ceramic coating which doesn't seem to do much vs insects at 60mph

thanks for any tips

Lay wet towels over the affected area for a while before a wash to loosen them up.

Hah I thought I was the only one that did the wet paper towel thing! Yeah it's basically like soaking a messy pot in the sink before cleaning it. The paper towel will hold the water somewhat in place, an the bug will soak it up and be far easier to remove.

A bug that splatters on your paint and then dries after being baked by the sun would still need a little TLC to remove even if the car has ceramic coating. Bird droppings often require the same type of treatment.

I also slap on a soaked paper towel on the affected area, works like a charm removing bird droppings.

I do the same for bird poo. Then just dab it lightly to remove.

Yes, dab aka blot, do not scrape/slide/wipe.

You could also spray the droppings/bugs with a bug/tar remover spray ahead of washing the car so the process is touchless so as not incur marring.

Ceramic coating is snake oil. Bird droppings burn right through it too.

That's the point, it's sacrificial.

Ceramic coatings have been around a while, and their strengths and weaknesses are well known at this point. Maybe someone promised that a coating could do something it can't (like stop marring), so you're sore about it?

Of course acidic bird poop is gonna burn through anything. Better than burning through your clear coat.

I like to use a bug remover. I have CarPro bugout. An APC can work to.

Idk what kind of quality ceramic coating you have but most will resist bird poop yes. Also it doesn't matter much if it just remove an area as you probably already use a as you should topper every once in a while product or maintenance LSP after a wash.

You have to view it literally as a wax/paint sealant that last much longer and will usually have better PH resistances. That's it. When you understand that, it's not snake oil... some people may have tried to tout other benefits that make it seem like it is.

With a couple fresh coats of sealant/wax and regular hand washes, I have little issue with removing bugs. In the occasion that I do, I also have BugOut

Yes bird poop burns right through Ceramic coating. It's not resistant to bird poop, it's not resistant to scratches it's an overpriced sealant that requires constant maintenance to achieve the claimed longevity. It's snake oil. Just PPF your car.

The fact you say to just PPF your car IMO goes to show you don't quite understand the point of ceramic coating. It's not snake oil.

It's like saying don't wax your car just PPF. They just aren't made to serve the same goal.
