Maserati

Anyone owned one before?
Model?
Reliability?
Maintenance costs?

I have always perceived them as a non daily driver but as we go out less and less I’m thinking my wife may deserve it.

Buy used because the resale is horrid lol... also which model are we talking here? The Ghibli sedan is pretty much a Chrysler inside.

My buddy had one, a Gran Turismo, and he rarely drove it because of maintenance costs. He loved the car but said it wasn't worth it

Worrying about maintenance fees is for losers. Ted Nugent referred to one as a metaphor for sex. Joe Walsh says his can do 185. I think that's all you reallly need to know, isn't it?

Damn the maintenance/reliability. Happy wife/happy life. Just do it.

I haven't owned one, but unless you're filthy rich they aren't daily drivers. I have a friend that owns a dealership, so his insurance is $0 and he buys cars right. He lost $30K in 2 years and put 5K miles on the car.

Neighbor has a quattroporte:
Bluetooth- I can hear her phone conversations word for word when within 30 ft of the car.
Uglier in person than the pictures.

Like my M5, sits in the garage all winter. Has yet to leave her stranded, however never leaves service dept with less than $1500 bill.

There are so many better options for the money. As others have said, most versions are FCA rebadged Chryslers etc. As such, reliability/build quality isn’t good and depreciation is probably the worst in class.

If you get one, get a used one with a very good extended warranty.

I dunno about that brand, if you can afford that, there are better options. They don't really impress imho.

Always thought Maserati were the most beautiful cars.
Guess when you don't have a budget and really great color options.
They can be very fast.
Sadly for most people not the most efficient choice.
Not my picture but my favorite car.

It would not be a Ghibli. It would be a convertible 2015-2018 ish after they have already tanked in depreciation.

We had a Quattroporte for a month when someone traded it in to my dealer back in 2010. It was fun ripping around and dropping into neutral in tunnels etc but she talks about one all the time.

They make beautiful cars but I've never heard anyone refer to them as reliable.

See if your local Carmax has any of them laying around and take advantage of the 24 hour test drive. Make sure to get the Maxcare warranty if you green light the purchase.

Really macho looking cars in my opinion, but overpriced for what they're worth. Since you're looking at depreciated Gran Turismos it may be worth it as an occasional cruiser.

Here too. Everyone leases the base 6cyl and thinks it's a status symbol. Most car guys don't even look at them.

Yeah they’re all over Miami and even Bomnin Chevrolet near Dadeland Mall in Kendall used to have 20 of them all lined up at the entrance.

To be clear, it's MC20 or Gran Turismo, the rest are rubbish.
