z4 M or M COUPE?
Honestly, this is like choosing between different cars almost. The Z4 M Roadster and the Coupe have completely different personalities. The Roadster FEELS like a sports car, it has a presence that shouts out at everyone. The Coupe, is more practical, especially in Canadian weather, but for some reason i've never really decided whether i like it or not. It's got a certain appeal, no doubt about it, but it's not exactly the best looking car in the world. Anyone else having this dilemma?

It's an easy decision for me. I prefer the look of the coupe and with the fact that it's more practical and usually coupe's handle a bit better than their roadster counterparts, coupe wins.

Well, i think that the 2 cars r very different, but still, 1 might think of buying one of them n still wounder...
if u want the looks of power (and the actual power), go ahead n take the coupe. but if u like the show car, the roadster grabs much more attention, n i really like the idea that u can choose bwtween the open air and or the internal quiteness. thats an advantage in the roadester...

you should seriously drive them before you sign up for one of either
I have a Z4 3.0 (from back when the 3.0 was the big motor) and have taken it to the track a few times and autocrossed too.. when I test drove the M roadster I really, really, really wanted to like it The power in that car is AMAZING BUT the steering wheel was too fat for my tastes (minor) the handling was twitchy, spooky, and a bit unsettling at the limit (major) I really wanted to like that car, but it just didn't seem to be a polished product. It seemed like the car was just a hodgepodge of m3 bits tossed onto the Z4 to hype it up a little bit. Early reviews from mags, and performance numbers would tend to back up my feelings from the test drive. I had a friend (boxster S owner) with me and he drove it too and we both came back with the same conclusions. very impressive power, not easy/fun to drive near the limit You really get the feeling that they're handicapping that M roadster and coupe so that it won't just destroy even the new E90 M3 in every measureable performance measure. After test driving the M roadster I had zero desire to upgrade. |

i would definitely go for the coupe. my dilemma is different, however. i can't decide whether to get the regular coupe or the M one. i figured in 4 years (when i'm ready to upgrade/swtich) i'll have this question figured out.
but as ward said, i'd test drive both of them and i'm sure you'll have no problems deciding which one you like better.

we don't have the coupe available yet
the extra power didn't make up for the car feeling less composed at speed than my Z4, the M roadster was really twitchy and didn't feel stable near the edge. I don't think it's not fun, but it's not a rounded package the sum of the M roadster is less than the sum of it's parts in my book still a fun car though, too bad BMW handicaps it to keep the M3 the top dog, kind of like porsche with the cayman and 911 |

yah u have this concept with many car manufacturers, because they need that, thier aim in the end is sales right??
i find it ok if BMW does that 2 keep the M3 in the top (although i feel it has nothing 2 do with the Z4 M) but every car manufacturer has his own good reasons 2 built cars in different ways...
