We don't exchange gifts for Christmas and birthdays. We're pretty lucky and don't really want for anything. We usually put something small under the tree though, a nice bottle of wine and some chocolates for her usually.

Having been with my spouse 19 years, I just tell her to add whatever she wants to her wishlist on Amazon and the moment I get the notification it's bought.
My bigger problem is finding something for our 20th. With her job up in the air next year we don't want to break the bank, so it has to be creatively cool. |

We usually book a trip for February or March during the Christmas holiday.
So we just buy something small that we need, so we have something to unwrap on Christmas day. Like a perfume for the wife, etc, and she does the same for me. |

We tried doing the trip thing, then it was too hard to get a dog sitter
We did the one nice gift and some small practical items but that got out of hand Every year I feel like I buy her things just to buy things. They always end up being material things she really doesnt need (bag, watch, shoes, etc) and I really have no clue what to get this year. |

Just ask her what she wants/needs, that`s what I do. No use in buying useless things that she`s never going to use. |

This is our 47th Christmas together and we have practically given each other everything, so we just ask each other what we want and we keep it small. This year she wants new slippers, bath towels, scarves, and nice comfy socks so that's what I got her. Nothing too exciting. lol

This is what I have been advocating but she’s not there yet after 22 years.

This year we decided not to get gifts for each other. Instead, if theres something we want we can just treat ourselves. There is just too much going on this year and this makes life easier. Plus you get exactly what you want.
With that said, if I come across something I know she really wanted (or has wanted in the past) I'd probably get it for her as a small surprise…

Looking at some weathertech stuff for her "new" car that I inherited. Possibly some more Bombas socks. We get on a boat for 7 days on Christmas Eve, I've been stashing Benjamins for the casino. . . hoping to make it rain up in that cabin

I suggested we not do gifts this year. We truly have everything we need and there is really nothing I want. We are almost done with our outdoor kitchen and getting a new fence put up as we speak so that's been quite a sum of money we've dropped. Also, we normally travel between Christmas and New Years so I don't need a gift plus that. We might do a few simple things in a stocking. The dog will get some gifts though
![]() Next year my goal is to reduce the crap I buy because I can or things I think I need. |

For China, in addition to figurines or another place setting of your wedding china, travel to China would be cool (perhaps). Apparently porcelain also counts, so there is a wide range of options. For platinum, jewelry is a good option along with shelf-fillers that you both can look at and recall the day. |
