Honeymoon location help
So its kind of a personal decision at the end of the day, but I feel like I'm kind of fixated on Barbados and not allowing myself to be open to other locations.
I haven't traveled to any resorts so I have no idea what's good and what's bad - that's where I need your help! Where have you gone that you loved?? My only requirements are that its warm, great beaches, and I don't feel like I'm going to get mugged walking down the street (ie. South Africa from what I've heard). Getting married in October, so although I was originally considering Italy, I found out its a little colder that time of the year (not bad, but not as warm as I would like) - as I said, right now I'm pretty sold on Barbados but would like to hear from anyone else! Suggest away! |

Congrats on getting married. One big question is your budget and amount of time. I went to the BVI and had a great time. One word of caution about the Carribean in October.....hurricanes....Barbados is a bit furthr south so you might be okay even if you get a storm.
Try this website. http://www.concierge.com/tools/destinationfinder It it run through Conde Nast Traveler which is a pretty good travel mag. It is nice b/c you can really pick through and narrow down what you are looking for through a variety of searches. |

oooo I love Detriot in October. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else
My wife and I went to St. Lucia the first week of September this year and it was great. Very hot, no bad weather, both of those hurricanes that rolled through went wayy north of us. We stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Was awesome. No thought was required, just swipe the amex and go. Just what you want after months of making decisions is to go somewhere where simple decisions are required. Rum or Vodka, steak or fish, oh fuck it I'll have both, and I did every night

http://www.amanpulo.com/ - very classy resort if not the most exclusive beach resort here in the Philippines
http://www.boracay.com/ - really fun to be at, very popular and has great night spots

WHy not French riviera -- Cannes for example.
Should be affordable in October, should be pleasant weather, and great drive from there all over the Northern Italy... We went there for our HM 10 years ago... |

Prague is beautiful too, just depends on what you're looking for. If you want the typical beaches, hawaii type setting, then the above recommendations are good. Bermuda, key west, maui...so many to name!

Quick lesson I learned on my HM 4 years ago, make sure you stay in an all-inclusive if you go to the caribbean. We thought we would be adventurous and "get out and see the island"... You don't want to do that =(

I got married near the end of October and we went to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico and it was great. Weather was good, but you are taking a risk at that time of the year. To avoid that you may want to go further south. I like both Aruba and Bonaire and I believe they are both outside of the huricane zone.
And my wife is South African, and she will never go back. If people ask her about going there on vacation she tells them not to. |

Hainan, China FTW
its exotic, far away, sexy, different, its like Hawaii minus the people and the cliche and minus the south africa violence you could do the usual tourist style resort or retro hide away with the local smaller "resorts" Google it Last edited by samwoo2go; 12-22-2008 at 06:27 PM.. |

lmao i remmember goin to detroit with my family a few years ago. We got there and it was as if it had been hit by a hurricane(it hadn't). We were like "Mabey we are at the bad side of town" Turns out there was no good side of town. We left later that day.
