White noise generator and industrial ear guards (the kind they use for flagging in jets). Some combination of these two will let you sleep through a nuclear war.

He probably has sleep apnea and should get diagnosed.
If he refuses, try www.puresleep.com. Helped me

have him sleep at an angle to open up his air ways. My friend has an unholy snore and that usually helps him.. or have him lose some weight with some fat free water

uh yeah... i can only imagine that conversation:
roommate 1: dude, you snore pretty loud at night. do you mind sleeping at an angle to open up your airways? snoring roommate: yeah no problem man, i'll give it a shot. I might turn while sleeping, it happens from time to time... moving while sleeping that is. roommate 1: well hey, if I see you move from your angular position, would it be cool if moved you back? snoring roommate: yeah man, no worries. (cut to first night...) snoring roommate: alright man, goodnight, i'm gonna try that angle thing. roommate 1: cool... goodnight, sweet dreams. (5 minutes later...) snoring roommate: CHRAAAA PHEWWWW, CHRAAAA PHEWWWW, CHRAAAA PHEWWWW, CHRAAAA PHEWWWW, CHRAAAA PHEWWWW, CHRAAAA PHEWWWW. (snoring roommate is on his back, facing the ceiling - snoring the fuck away.) (roommate 1 walks over to snoring roommate to turn him back to his angular positon) roommate 1: (whispering) hey man, don't mind me i'm just turning you. snoring roommate: why don't you climb in and spoon me at an angle?

My roommate summer freshman year did the same damn thing! I swear I could have set off a nuke and not woken the kid up. So one night I got a couple of my buddies on the floor to help me carry his bed with him in it and we took it outside and put it in the building laundry room. I just made it clear that if he continued to snore so damn loud I would be pranking his ass every night for the rest of the summer. He looked into anti snoring things the next day.
