2023 Honda Civic Type R - July 1st
Looks like the US will finally get some facetime with the the FK8s successor, the FL (though it'll still be camouflaged).
Dealer near me still hasn't discounted the rumor that there may be an auto/DCT offering. I definitely like the 2022 body style of the Civic more than the previous gen so the 2023 should look pretty nice, IMO. Lapping the Suzuka circuit in 2:23.120. 2.0L 4 cyl, M6 trans. Can't get FWD performance like these at this price point (as long as you can get past the venturi-flow triple exhaust) https://www.motor1.com/news/583559/h...debut-us-ohio/ https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/civic-type-r Last edited by Equilibrandt; 05-06-2022 at 01:43 PM.. |

Lol yeah that wrap is badass. My coworker has a CTR and it's really fun to drive.

I won't be in early, but I will have this CTR before it goes outta production.
Hopefully they sort out the cooling from the start. It can only be a cracking drive

Do they have a camo to make the wing disappear?

Rubber looks decently wide. The last R is a monster. It may not be a pretty monster, but it's a monster all the same. The current civic is butt-ugly and hopefully this is showing a better front end.

Should have been an option for the current gen Type R to make it less God awful hideous looking.

At the end of the day
It is still fwd with the inheritant disadvantages of a fwd car Yes it s very good, but having driven a plethora of times, modded and stock The car never truly can hide the fact that it's fwd And the price point of almost 50k , before markup Well there are much better AWD/RWD cars out there with similar capabilities |

It was $38k with no options available. They weren't impossible to find without markup either. Of course early ones will be hard to find at sticker, but that's true of a lot of cars currently. I'd imagine the new one will still be under $40k. My Mk8 Golf R is $45k, we don't know where the GRolla will come in yet.

For anyone curious, my guy at Honda of Thousand Oaks let me know that the full reveal should be at Mid-Ohio Indy Car on July 1-3.
He said there have been many hints that the reveal would be before then, which is any day now. |

Stealthily as the unannounced pace car or with a proper launch campaign around it? 😁

Fantastic performance from these cars for sure, but the shape and the WWD leaves me out of it.

The 2003 Mitsuibishi Lancer EVO posted a Nurburgring 8:14.98 lap time in 2003. 14 YEARS later, the Civic type R with a full "floating" cage and stripped out entertainment system can lay down a 7:43? I just don't think that's "monster" level. I watch the tests on Throttle House and watch it lose race after race. Not that it isn't good value. For a car in that price range, it's road course track performance is definitely nifty. But not a "monster". Shawn |

Everyone can't afford a GT3 RS with full cage, so most people compare their abilities to the capability of the car and race in similar classes so they can have decent competition. With that said, in these classes, these cars ARE monsters, they transcend normal FWD perceptions. If you are really passing them that much with equal drivers, then you are running some giant tracks and asymmetrical car classes.

CTR's official Suzuka time is marginally slower than this gentleman in a 997 GT3RS, looking through his youtube videos he certainly isn't just someone who brought his lap
