Need help with PC network card.
I was working on a laptop with an internal wifi network card. The computer was recently reformatted and since then, the network card driver won't install properly. It also won't uninstall from device manager. I tried updating the driver numerous ways, the computer simply will not fully install any driver no matter what I do.
Any help would be appreciated |

windows version, and if it does not install properly what sort of error messages you getting during installation or what sort of messages you are getting when trying to enable the network card?

What he said - and look in device manager for what the card status says.

Toshiba Satellite A100 ST1041
Just a yellow exclamation mark in device manager under. Windows XP SP2. I downloaded the driver from toshiba, no matter what I try it won't install the driver. I tried both auto and pointing the driver update right to the folder. I tried in safe mode and tried resetting the bios to defaults. When I try to uninstall the card it says something along the lines of failed to uninstall device it may be required for startup. |

go back to device manager, double click on that device with the yellow exclamation mark, make sure you enable the device, and check all the other tabs to see if there are any reported conflicts for this device and go from there. There is some sort of conflicts with this device and the trick is to figure out what the conflict is.

If I was in front of the laptop, I would shut it down and locate the wireless card and unplug it and plug it back and turn on the pc. Otherwise, mess with the registry at your own risk. Was the laptop originally came with XP or Vista?

I am going back to where the laptop is this afternoon, I am thinking about installing windows again or reformatting and installing windows. If that does not fix it then it must be hardware related... The computer came with XP, have tried restarting etc, the driver I am trying is from Toshiba's website. Perhaps you can find out which network card the laptop has and I can download the driver from another source if Toshiba's is corrupt. Toshiba Satellite A100 ST1041 |
