It's that time again - help me pick another daily driver
So, it's that time again - looking for a different daily driver to replace my Alfa Giulia Ti Sport. Wife still has the i8 and I still have the Alfa 4C as the toy.
Requirements: 1. Price - under $60,000. 2. Seats - needs to be at least a 2+2. 3. Miles - under 50K miles. 4. Style - needs to be an 'event' and something that is really 'wow'. 5. Year - does not matter, so long as it is at least somewhat reliable to drive 5k-10k miles a year. 6. Service Costs - doesn't matter, so long as not absurd. Figure oil changes should be less than $500 and annual service less than $2000. Doesn't have to be extremely quick, but needs to have some power. General rule is under 6sec to 60 is more than fine. Big thing is that it really needs to be 'special' - so really, BMW's are all essentially out since they don't make anything that has a wow factor for my price point. Needs to have some semblance of a back seat. The daughter is nearing 7, so she needs to be able to cram back there for short jaunts on occasion. Nothing more than that. Right now - I've got it narrowed down to the following: 2015-2017 Maserati Granturismo 2012-2014 Lotus Evora S or 2+2 2018-2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV The QV is probably the most make sense car, but I drive a Giulia every day now and don't really need the extra power of the QV. Leaning towards the Mazzer at the moment - but open to other ideas. Anyone?

Probably a very nice vehicle, but just not really much 'wow' factor on the looks, in my opinion.
Thanks for the input, though!

Back on topic, Have you looked at C63's? I can't afford one, but have been eyeing the C43's as a runner up. |

Not much.
I drive the kiddo to school every day - that is about 10 miles round trip. Figure we tool around the mountains over the weekend maybe 50-75 miles or so. Figure about 500 miles a month or so. I don't have an office outside the home anymore.

Bout to just say screw it and spend an extra $25K more and buy a used Ferrari California, lol. Seriously though - that is the biggest issue - cars today are just boring looking. Anything that stands out is $$$.

I'll take another look. Would have to be a wild color though - or I'd have to wrap it or something. The plain jane E series M3's look like damn Honda Accords.
How's the Stelvio? Let me know if you want some dress up bits that will probably work off my Giulia.

Competition pack in blue or orange looks pretty wild.
Stelvio is Stelvio, still only 6000 miles in 2 years LOL. My only real gripe is the incessant nannies beeping at me relentlessly, it doesn't even let me put on a seat belt before barking at me, shut the fuck please. |

I was recently looking for another car. Actually looked at an Evora but I ultimately decided on an Audi A8L with the 4.0 twin turbo. 0-60 in 3.9 secs, awd tons of options and best part is that I can be blowing away most cars on the road all the while getting a back massage. Maybe look at an S8, 0-60 in 3.5 and very relaxing to drive. I wanted fast but also wanted something that wasn't going to break my back like my Z4C does. Other than the turbo failures (easy to keep from occurring) they are pretty bulletproof. Your kid can even control her own climate.
Heck after the wife rode in it she was even liking the idea. Almost 2 1/2 tons of steel of class. Like I said I looked at the Evora but in the end this car spoke to me. You don't see many on the road. I looked at pretty much anything I could imagine. I don't think many cars have the wow look anymore, at least not in that price range. What about a Land Rover SVR in that intense blue color. It's pretty sharp and did wow me when I saw one. Crazy quick as well, would be a great winter vehicle ta boot. |

The Land Rover is an interesting proposition. I will have to take a peak. On the same British note - what is everyone's thought on a 2009+ Aston DB9?

I am gonna throw one at you, before you dismiss it, read the reviews. I genuinely think you won't lose money on it when you go to sell it.
Jaguar XKR-S. In a bright colour it certainly unique and yells "theatre". It sounds amazing, goes like stink and handling better than you'd expect for a GT car. Infotainment is appalling but who gives a crap, proper V8. |

S550 coupe... like this one:

Maserati GranTurismo out of your choices.
The only thing I don’t like about it is that it drives like a GT and not sporty. Meaning the steering is not direct, transmission is slow to shift and brake pedal is not firm. Its more like a Mercedes in terms of driving inputs rather than BMW. Have you considered M6? |

I concur with the E9X M3. I think it stands out enough in the right color, notably blue or red.
What color is your Giulia? A QV in red would really look nice. I do think the Ti has adequate power to have fun on public roads however the initial lag is sort of annoying. I'd imagine the QV delivers power in a more linear fashion. And I can tell that everything in the car can be turned up another notch from where it is now. My only hesitations with a pre-refresh QV would be [obviously] reliability, the cheap feeling plastic shifter, and the lack of a sunroof option. Maserati GranTurismo is a real showstopper, but the interior just feels so 2008 from inside. With that being said, with the right colors/options I'm sure it's still a nice enough place to be. You would really stand out from every other car on the road in it. A buddy's father just picked up a CPO Boxster/Cayman GTS. However that wouldn't meet your 2+2 requirement.
