Just ugly and doesn't make any sense from an engineering standpoint. The actual exhaust is round, they're just bolting (or welding) a square tip onto it. Just skip that step and leave it round.

well that's your opinion but FWIW and if you're old enough to remember it was done back in the C3 era (70-73)

Also FWIW the exhaust tips on my X5 are not round !

Oh, BMW is pretty guilty too. But so far, not on M's. I'm more of a stickler on sports cars, I don't mind the silly finishers on SUV's and big sedans. I don't like it, but I tend to ignore those cars anyway.
