M Performance Exhaust 2021 M340i Review

When trying to make a decision whether to purchase the MPE or not, I read almost every thread on this forum covering the topic and watched every YouTube video I could possibly find to justify the $1,500 - $1,700 price tag. I couldn't find anything substantial besides a few forum members saying it sounds great on a 2021 so I decided to pull the trigger and see for myself and help inform the forum.

A huge thank you to Evan@Tischer for having the last M Performance exhaust in stock in the USA and extremely fast shipping.

Installation was pretty easy. I hung out at the shop that did it for me and played assistant during installation to get it done in about 35 mins. No shop should charge more than 1 hour of time to do this unless they have no clue what they are doing.

I was nervous, but the first start-up upon installation completion sounded amazing. MUCH louder than stock and a bit louder than the stock 2020 I originally test drove when deciding to get this car (I had no clue the 2021 would not sound like the 2020 until it was too late). Comfort mode with MPE now sounds like the stock Sport Plus, and Sport and Sport Plus now sound unbelievable. The tone is much deeper and there are way more pops and bubbles. If you are on the fence for your 2021, I highly recommend it.

Do I think this is worth the price tag? Probably not. This should be around $1,000-$1,200 IMO. Am I happy I got it? Hell yea!

The videos really don't do it justice. It sounds louder and deeper in person

Not sure how to embed the YouTube video on a post so if anyone can let me know I can update the video above.

Thank you for this post! I also am/was in the same situation as you and after investigating all I could about the MPE as well as DINAN and other aftermarket exhausts for my brand new 2021 M340i (will be picking it up next week) I also pulled the trigger and had it added to my build. It is being installed as we speak and I will be taking delivery of the car next week with the MPE installed to avoid any disappointment. I did manage to hear a 2021 M340i with the MPE but for a very short period, indoors and without driving it so not the greatest test. I am glad you are satisfied and so am I. Is it worth the amount, probably not. Had BMW just increased the price of the car and had it automatically come with the MPE I would have been happy.

even thought i have fi exhuast on my car, i still think mpe is best one to get for best value (if you dont mind the stock exhaust tips looking), sounds louder and deeper than stock, more pops and crackles (for MY2020)

Nice write up . I can't justify paying $2000 for an axle back with no gains. That seems way too excessive for sound.

Congrats on the new car and the good choices! I tried to find a 2021 with the MPE installed nearby, but no one had it. I guess I will now be that person nearby with one

Agreed. After discounts/hook ups it cost me around $1,700 total with installation, which is still a bit too much.

Did you get it installed at the dealership?

It cost me about 2100 for parts and labor :/

Nice write-up, and agreed on the price point. I only got this since I didn't really want to wait for other vendors to release their systems, plus they rolled the cost into my lease. May possibly be worth the current price if they actually had real tips, methinks.

I got this installed at a local german garage. I pulled the official BMW installation guide from online to give them. The instructions said 1 hour so he charged me 1 hour.

When I spoke to my local BMW dealership they told me it would take 3 hours to install....

Thanks! The more I drive it, the more I enjoy the exhaust, but I still think the price point is a bit high. Some real/different style tips would have definitely helped. Hope you are enjoying yours!

Anyone know if a VRSF catless downpipe. From a 340 f30 would fit onto my G20 b58 (2021 m340i x drive)currently with m performance exhaust.

Also does anyone have this setup. ?

Video would be much appreciated.

Of just drop some knowledge. Is this combo a good idea?

I don't want something loud and obnoxious.
I like clean and throaty…

Thanks to all.

Not at all. You can barely tell the difference over stock once you are cruising in the higher gears.

If u didn't add it to ur build, I think most ppl would say go with Dinan considering the price is similar. I found the MPE sounded great and aggressive, but wanted it a bit louder, which is not for everyone.

Are you still happy with your choice? I am considering this, and the price went up significantly. Dealer asks for $2500 for parts.

I still believe it’s a good option for those not wanting an obnoxiously loud exhaust. I love my MPE. Sometimes I wish it was a bit louder on the track, but for daily driving and spirited driving I think it’s perfect.
