At least this looks good without alienating its supporters, and of all the plug in hybrids available, this will likely still work 10 years later.

Is this an all new generation? Or just another refresh on the already past its expiration date model? Can't really tell from the exterior.
Thank god they finally dropped the awful mouse pad infotainment. |

I actually wasn't expecting a totally new model (although this was more of redesign than I expected - I thought it was going to get the lipstick on a pig interior treatment like the IS). In all honesty, I'm betting that Toyota is busy in the background with the development of a full on EV wave to come, and biding their time in between. Why develop something from the ground up when you know your entire lineup is going to a far different platform in the years to come. Not to mention these will still sell, sell, sell.

I assumed that this is built on the TNGA platform that the new RAV4 is on. No? TNGA is a stopgap before the skateboard electric platform is finalized by Toyota, that every one of their future vehicles will be built on. TNGA-E?

Just read that this will use the same powertrain as the RAV4 Prime which is a pretty impressive vehicle. This will definitely be a great seller for Lexus, and the Plug-In Hybrid provides many benefits on top of Lexus quality and reliable.

Nice SUV except the infotainment screen is too small. At this price I would expect at least a 42" OLED display.

Yes and no. They have e-TNGA coming:
https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-...or-u-s-market/ but as it states, it a flexible architecture like BMW's CLAR-WE and FAAR-WE. But yes, I expect Toyota will also create (or adopt via partnerships) at least one true BEV-only architecture in the next five years as well. There's clearly a lot of momentum for PHEVs for at least the next five to ten years, so I agree with you that sticking with the TNGA platform makes sense for those products including this new NX. It's already developed and it will get the job done quite nicely. |

I actually don't mind this one to be honest. At least it's horizontal and in your line of sight, vs vertical and low like Tesla and MB. Not to mention this car still has physical HVAC controls. This certainly beats Lexus' old infotainment with the touchpad.
I overall like it to be honest. I actually wished Toyota would offer more PHEV's, as they would make pretty good DD's.

Dang, you're right. Kind of annoying but I could live with it, since I usually just change the temp when I'm on the move most of the time.

I'm surprised at how conservative Lexus was with the exterior design in making changes compared to the first generation. Usually they are quite the opposite. Even the new IS received more of a visual overhaul and that was just a facelift on the existing generation not even a whole new car.
