Did you mean production of G82 M4 CSL ends? Standard G82 M4 production should end February 2024, just prior to the LCI.

We could probably additionally infer that the G81 will start when G80 LCI starts. Perhaps that's less certain than the other dates, but it seems strongly likely it will not be here this year, and equally unlikely it will come later than the LCI (new form factors for existing models almost never do).

We could add G83 dates too, but it's similar to the G82 except for perhaps end date.

Also, AWD M3/M4 coming in July (along with the G83).

But yes, that's a good roadmap for BMW M's performance cars through this decade. What lies beyond, including what form the next M3/M4 take in 2028 is still unknown. It's obvious they will be PHEV at a minimum, but there could be arguments made for BEV or to retain a combustion engine for one final generation to end just prior to the 2035 date loosely targeted by many geographies and manufacturers to complete the transition to all electric new consumer vehicle sales.

As production of G82 M4 LCI starts in March 2024, production of G82 M4 ends before March 2024.

That's why I noted "Winter 2023: production of G82 M4 ends" (which could include February 2024). I added "Winter 2023/2024" to avoid confusion.

As the G82 M4 CSL production is expected to be very short, starting in July 2022, my guesstimate is that it will only be made in the second semester of 2022.

As commented before: as the G80 M3 LCI (facelift version) is scheduled to go into production already next year (July 2022) deliveries of the G80 M3 introduction version (pre-facelift version / early adopters) will be from March 2021 to June 2022.

Edit: Artemis updated the OP so this post can be ignored now.

Ah. The reason I didn't think that was your angle was because you took care to be specific with the G80:

"June 2022: production of G80 M3 ends;"

Rather than saying:

"Spring 2022: production of G80 M3 ends;"

Do you believe that the G80 end date is more certain than the G82 end date? I would be very surprised to see any gap between the G82 and G82 LCI - equally as surprised as I would be to see any between the G80 and G80 LCI.

Transition between pre-LCI and LCI is usually fluent (unlike transition between model generations): for example EOP June for a pre-LCI model and SOP July for an LCI model. As we know, LCI usually features only minor plug & play changes, facilitating a fluent transition (for example tail lights featuring a different layout, new body colors, improved electronics (updated iDrive version), updated instrument panel, etc.).

And apart from an LCI, there are also some discreet updates during a model lifetime (infamous example: during its lifetime, the F80 M3 and F82 M4 featured several engineering versions modifying the exhaust sound - yeah, the S55 engine had its peculiar way of singing its songs).

Will BMW tinker with the G80 front end design for the G80 M3 LCI scheduled to start production in July 2022 ? I doubt it - the new front end design is supposed to stay around as new design language. But if by any chance BMW would have a go at it (not heard anything like that so far) and if this would require retooling, a gap between pre-LCI and LCI is possible.

I agree with you on that - any possible changes to the front would occur at the G82 LCI, not the G80 LCI. But would that result in a gap in production? Although we would hope they have that orchestrated for rapid changeover, it is nevertheless theoretically possible.

Like you, I am not betting on major changes to the front of the 4er nor M3/M4, necessarily. However, I think that if sales performance does not meet expectations, and they can definitively attribute such results to potential buyers being turned off by the new aesthetic, some type of revision is possible.

What makes you think front end changes are more likely with the G82 than G80? If it is an LCI how would bmw not change the front end of the G80? Also, if the front end change doesnt happen until G82 later, would they then simultaneously change the G80 to suit?

Finally, do we expect the G8X to carry manual transmission throughout its life?

What, if anything, can we infer about the G81 from this? Seems it will be barely have time to make production before the LCI updates are rolling through the rest of the range...

Perfect timing...April 2025: production of G87 M2 LCI starts.
M2 Competition due for delivery in May to replace the OG and then 4 year lease expires in 2025.

Should I be worried that the G83 isn't listed? Is it still on track for July 2021 start?

Wow, I didn't realize the M2 would be eop so soon. Let's hope they don't make it bigger and fatter and ruin our last hope for a small to mid sized M car. Next thing you know, the 2 series will be the size of the F30. In the future the 3 series will be larger than a 750L and the X5 will be a semi truck with a full cab that sleeps 4. The X7 will have different climate controls for each time zone and have its own gravitational pull.

LCI can't come soon enough. Not sure what the automotive landscape will look like at 2024 so it may be too late no matter how much better it may look.

Very normal in Australia where our cars cost so much more, my current M2 lease is nearly $2K per month, includes 8 tires over lease life.
Having lived in the US for 8 years and the last 4 in CA, I can understand how people change cars very often...it is cheap, but down under leasing costs are high and reducing it to 2 years costs even more.
The only good part is that it is a company lease and part of my comp.
