VW Arteon R Shooting Brake
Arteon R Shooting Brake is a lovely looking wagon with 320 hp that we will... never see in the US. That is too bad, it would have been the perfect daily driver for many in this country.

Yep. Read about it, didn't see it until right now. The Arteon seems like the best kept secret, an A5 for 10K cheaper, even bigger interior, but still keeping a sport exterior. Shooting brake would have been a no-brainer for my current DD car. Such a disappointment that we get no wagons like this. Just dumb SUV crap.

Shooting-brake is a car body style which originated in the 1890s as a horse-drawn wagon used to transport shooting parties with their equipment and game. |

Let's be honest, it seems like enthusiasts like estates/hatchbacks/wagons/shooting brake (whatever you want to call them), but nobody in North America will buy them. So how can you blame the manufacturers? Mercedes actually offers the C43 in a wagon in Canada, surprisingly...but nobody buys them. I'm actually very surprised that Audi actually decided to bring the RS 6 Avant to North America, albeit a very low production vehicle that enthusiasts love. I'm just not sure the same forumal will work for a VW Arteon (R or otherwise).

alas, it is not just the US. The rest of the world is slowly moving toward SUVs and away from station wagons/estate cars. |

At least the Arteon is a useful configuration even in the sedan version, huge hatch that just swallows stuff. All sedans should be like that IMO. I just bought a hatchback that I wish was a little bigger, but it's big enough. If they offered an S4/RS4 Avant or M340 wagon here, I'd have it, no question.
