Road & Track picks the Hyundai Veloster N as 2020 PCOTY
R&T just posted their PCOTY results. Long article, link at the bottom. For those that can't be bothered to read every word (myself included), the Veloster N won. It is just one test, but it looks like Biermann has had some success working his magic into Hyundai's N cars.

What they said about the C8 was not very nice. It's like why bothers making a super car wannabe unless you go all the way. C7 was more fun to drive and I honestly think the C7 is a better looking car.

CAR Magazine in the U.K. would do and still does these type of test and the writing style is impressive. The Road & Track article fell apart when a fat guy said he couldn't fit in a sports car - humor or serious it's painful to read. |

Results be damned, this is the best "car of the year' article and test I have seen in years. It shows real personality, weighing a cars merit on the commute, canyon and track while also giving a hefty dose of reality! It also is transparent about dissenting opinions between the "judges" of each platform.
Of course a $200K+ car should be a riot with few compromises, when a <$35K car does the same it is a testament to engineering and bold business decisions not seen recently. I welcome the new direction of Road & Track |

The Veloster N finished first over the following contenders:
1). 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 2). 2019 BMW M2 Competition 3). 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo 4). 2020 Lotus Evora GT 5). 2020 Mclaren 600LT Spider 6). 2020 Lexus RC-F Track edition 7). 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Club 8). 2020 Toyota Supra 9). 2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo 10). 2020 Porsche 911S Very hard to believe they would pick the Hyundai over those competitors.

They should change their name from “Road and Track” to just “Road”

That seems like one random ridiculous lists of cars to compare to each other.
Reminds me of one of these exotic car tours we did when we were in CA. Think it was some old pos aston, huracan, mclaren and a ferrari 458. Honestly for me the best performance was the mclaren and huracan, however if I was given one (not to sell etc, just for my personal use) would have taken the 458 no questions. As for that ridiculous list. If money were no object the lambo hands down. If money WAS an object then the vette, but I may be biased. |

I often ask myself which performance car do I want on a track. Do I want a Lamborghini, maybe a Mclaren? No, it’s a Hyundai Veloster.
To me, the top performance car is obviously going to be a front engine, front wheel drive car. You can keep your mid engined, big power, exotic material, dedicated sports cars. |

Not that a front driver can’t be a fun car, but they’re so inherently compromised. And then you’re building on a barebones budget. On an economy car/weird crossover platform.
Anyone notice how they wax poetic about most of the other cars? Even about their flaws? And at the very end they were all....ok lol we’ll give the award to the car we spent no time talking about. It’s like the end of Game of Thrones where they give everything to Bran and everyone goes...where the fuck did that come from?? |

Not sure if some of you understand what the Hyundai N is about. It is a big deal to make affordable cars that can perform and that's exactly what Hyundai N division is doing under the leadership of ex-M mastermind Albert Biermann.
i'd rather have a Hyundai N than most of what else is on that list because i like small hatchbacks and coupes----BUT i just wish they brought the euro 5-door hatchback N over. the Hyundai N is an amazing line with the Father of the original M division at the helm---he's channeling the spirit of the E30 M3 over there and it definitely shows!! Glad someone has remembered how to do it right! Cars are about how they feel---not statistics and numbers and hype or even badge. It seems this has been lost somewhere along the way and everyone expects the 911 to win everything-----the state of the world in 2019 that people don't get beyond the surface.

Firstly the Honda Type R rides better then the type-n regardless of the Honda eligibility. In the future u think the type-N will be as desirable as the Supra ? Additionally is the bmw not a brilliant 4 seater ? Would you really want to drive a type N for 60,000 miles over a 2series Comp ? |
