What do you say to BMW haters?

What do you say in response to BMW haters who always bash on the reliability, depreciation, and other stuff that they hate on?

Mind you, these are the same people who drive 20-year-old Fords or Toyotas.

I love my 435i. Its my baby and i cant get enough of the drive! But, I'm trying to understand the negative logic behind their hate toward BMW.

Behind any hater's motive is the idea that they can get in your head, frustrate you, and generally steal time from your otherwise happy and peaceful existence. In other words, they want to cause you the same agitation that your good fortune (perceived or real) causes them.

As others have already said, the answer is to ignore it and pretend they don't exist. Unfortunately, it could be argued that the mere action of starting a thread such as this one suggests you've already been ensnared in the web. Never really met BMW haters in person or maybe they are just the passive aggressive type. Or maybe I have while driving but never while engaged in conversation. Also this isn't really off topic.

1) Why do you care what others think? If you feel the need to respond to someone making a negative comment regarding a decision you made, that is a whole other problem.

2) What you note that they are saying is accurate. BMW's do have a reputation for not being the most reliable cars available. In addition, they also have a terrible depreciation curve - especially in the first couple of years. Those statements are 100% true. Most who buy a BMW are well aware of this, and choose to accept these negatives for all the positives the car brings along with it.

3) Refer to my first sentence again.

edit: to add, the first few years were great, the next couple were fun as i was heavily modding, the last 5 have been issue after issue lol. only 78k miles on it too. But, i still enjoy it cause what other car is AWD, ~500hp modded, and doesnt have a car payment

I don't really encounter haters besides people who make casual comments about me being young (I look young for 29) and having an "expensive BMW". I always just laugh since it usually comes from people in their 50s who are driving $70,000 SUVs and pickups.

I usually get the typical "must be nice" to which I reply "it is" haha. But for the most part, no real negativity. Actually get some positive remarks when I pull the baby seat from the back seat.

Who cares. The M and the i go in the shop typically for WEEKS. IDGAF. I drive specialized vehicles and they require special care and feeding. The plus side is that I get extended test drives of the entire inventory which is a pleasure all it's own. And the fleet manager is super hot too!!

As I told a friend before: It's all part of ownership and if a person can't stomach it, they are sentenced to driving boring cars. The Honda and Toyota dealerships are right down the street from BMW. Govern yourself accordingly.

I hate on BMW too but for different reasons.

But that crowd of misers who will never spend a time in their life can go shove it. I know several people like that. They'll spend their entire life driving a Subaru or Toyota no matter how much money they have. Meanwhile I'll be enjoying every moment behind a car.

One of my uncles is like this and preaches how much of a moral high horse he's on. Meanwhile my dad laughs at the guy and enjoys his Porsche and Bimmers.

I spend hours a day in my car, I want it to be something I enjoy driving.

We don't really have any haters around my area. But I only live 30 minutes or so from the BMW plant.

So there are more BMW's on the road in my area than other brands especially at shift change.

I enjoy driving my BMW more than my Corvette sometimes....no one bothers me in the Bimmer....but I am constantly harassed by other cars looking for a race when I drive my Corvette.

Yes I understand it's a Civic Type "R"........but there is a huge HP gap even in stock cars...and my Vette isn't stock.
