Honda E Dashboard First look

Interesting, but I think I'd find it more of a distraction than helpful.

yeah most of that stuff is all gimmick. Just like the 'power gauge' on the f80.

I am interested in the Honda E though, looks better inside and out than a tesla. Just not sure if it can be a highway cruiser.

This is no where close to the UX efficiency Apple or even BMW has built and IMO, if this was a 500$ option id probably say no lol

Even without all the gizmo stuff in the video I wanted to immediately buy this but so disappointing it's not coming to the US

I think this is geared to those people who are 100% glued to their iPhones. I'm sure they'd love this technology but I think it's just a gimmick really, it's not necessary, it just looks good.

It does look very distracting - I'm not sure why more designers don't think about actual use during driving. I drive an XC90 and Volvo pretty much went the full touchscreen route with all their new cars. It's fine most of the time but some tasks are overly complicated - to turn on 360 camera, I have to swipe right and then click on 2 icons - would be nice to just hit button.

Also, not having actual buttons or knobs/dials means that you have to look down instead of just going by feel. If I want to change the temperature, I have to briefly look down and then tap icon and tap again for temp. Final issue is that much like phones, the system can hang up and get glitchy. Once in a while an icon is unresponsive or the screens freeze up for a few seconds or options just go away (I once lost the ability to switch from Bluetooth audio to FM). Only solution is to restart system and that means actually turning ignition off and back on. Fortunately this is a rare occurrence but it never happens to a dial.

I'm not sure switch to button would solve this though (when system hung) if the back end is the same, you might have to reboot in any case, at least BMW sensibly put the iDrive6 reboot button as part of radio

Theres an offence under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act for having a TV in the front seat, it goes way back to the 1970's if I recall but essentially it was a distracted driving thing. I'm not sure how all these infotainment systems fly with safety regs around the world. My GLK has an option for video if I'm not mistaken....that's just crazy when you think about it.

Been that way since before the tech gen. What gen is that? I can't keep it all straight. iPhone aholes ruined everything for folks who just want an analog experience.

Went shopping for cars this past weekend...guy at the Wrangler dealership wouldn't shut the frack up about all the tech and connectivity in the JL even after I told him I'd be fine with a FM radio and two climate control knobs.

Imagine that...I remember when I was in high school I revered the Wrangler for being the most simple small utility vehicle. Now it's about tech *shakes head*

I had a CJ7 Renegade, simple analog no non-sense. You had to get out to lock the hub for 4x4......I love that thing. It had a shitty Am/FM radio. Life was good. Now, everything is all super tech driven and Virtual Reality. I tell my kids to go outside and experience Actual Reality. Well, the youngest is 25 but you get the idea.
