NOS Energy Drinks

Some NOS representatives came into the shop the other day and dropped off a few cases of this stuff. Apparently one bottle is the equivalent to 4 Red Bulls!

It tastes pretty good. Almost like a tangy citrus type of taste.

Really bad for you though. It's made with taurine, which is something your body produces to heal itself. And if you drink too much of it, your body stops producing it, haha.

A wonder how it tastes with Vodka??

What are your thoughts on this drink?

Matt

I don't think red bull is that bad actually.

I like Sobe Adrenaline better though.

On a side note, did anyone ever sit and wonder how Red Bull got to be so big and so commonly known as "The" stereotypical energy drink?

I'm mean, 9 out of 10 poeple hate the stuff. How how did it happen? Owned by Coca Cola or some shit?

Sugar water with caffeine.

It's like a drug, you drink it for a rush.

Gateway drug...

NOS is mega delish.

Red Bull tastes like ass. Actually, it tastes like horrible mountain dew.

Monster takes the cake; easily the best.

Agreed. Its only a brief jolt, then you crash pretty damn hard. I'd rather get a large iced coffee for a longer boost and half the price

that's from the sugar, just get sugar free and you're good to go.

Red Bull is like diet coke, you just adapt to the taste. Funny thing is Red bull is independent owned and still destroy all competitors.
I don't like it but at the end of the day Red Bull FTW.

I guess so. We always have a pack of sugar free red bull and I can't stand the stuff. Our house is full of diet sodas so I'm used to that stuff...but red bull just tastes like what I expect a pee/mountain dew hybrid to taste like.

The second ingredient in NOS is high fructose corn syrup. One 16oz can has 52g of sugar! Stay away. Taurine has not been shown to not increase energy, and it is commonly found in energy drinks and sodas.

How about the caffeine? Energy drinks are marketing scams. Flat out. A crash is evidence that your body has to work so hard to assimilate something into your body that we feel fatigue. Not to mention that caffeine is a diuretic and dehydrates you. Drinking water and remaining hydrated is a better way to remain energized than having a energy drink or a coffee.

Avoid sugar and caffeine. They create a devastating energy crisis in the body that is all too common in the Western diet.

I'm sure a lot of you have experience times where you had to cram for an exam or whatever. For those rare occurance energy drinks worked for me not water. Don't get me wrong I don't advertise energy drink as "holy water" in fact I don't even drink pop, but i'm just saying for whatever reason it worked for me. Personally, I use to drink rockstar zero carbs. less caffeine(compare to nos) and no sugar.

[QUOTE=Bobby_Light;3123173] Not to mention that caffeine is a diuretic and dehydrates you.
the water from the drink itself is more than enough to offset the slight amount of dehydration possibly caused by the caffeine.

i guess thats why we drink water in the morning for an energy boost instead of coffee. not to downlplay the importance of hydration, but if a hydrated person popping caffiene pills will have far more energy than someone just drinking water.

We are not talking about drinking 'A' glass of water for energy. We are talking a cumulative effect of being hydrated, which I know if rare thing these days from the work I do. If you eat properly and hydrate, you simply don't need an energy boost.

Energy drinks will "work," just like cocaine will work, but it's not good for you. I too have had an energy drink or two but once I discovered the facts, I do not drink them. Rockstar contains sucralose/Splenda which is a controversial ingredient (like many artificial sweetners).

Turns out it's pretty good for you, but no more than 3g per day. . .

I have been drinking one with L-Carnitine, choline, taurine, caffeine, inositol, d-Glucuronolactone. It also has Vitamin C, Niacin, Vitamin B6, B12, Sucralose, and some other stuff. This one doesn't have guarana.

I have been wondering what would be the long-term effects of one can a day. I don't crash like I did as a coffee drinker. And I don't get any brief jolt. The energy boost seems to last for several hours.
