Viewing Past Recalls
Long story short, a friend of mine is in the market for a used Range Rover. About a month ago, they had found one that they liked but the car was sold before their current lease ended. The exact same car was listed at the same dealership as before. When asking about the reason for this, the dealer told them that the car had some open recalls so they were forced to cancel the sale until they were taken care of.
I did some digging and it seems like the NHTSA is not showing any recalls for this VIN. I was under the impression that the search tool would show any (open or closed) recalls for the past 15 years. Is my understanding correct? Also, based on the carfax, the last maintenance was done back in November. This is certified Land Rover dealer and I would assume that all maintenance would be reported. Let me know what you all think! At this point I have told my friend that it might be best to stay away from this one. |

Rovers are great cars...when they work. But they do have reliability issues. |
