Rat entered my engine bay

Looking at the generic pic, he settled on top of the metal block coming up in between the Carbon Fiber cover... he then proceeded to pee & poop all on top of that grated block where even getting dust out/off of is difficult...

I assume he entered through a vent in the garage and underneath the car to settle on a warm engine. F U Mr. rat

Merc's is tasty and comfy too said the rat

Around Christmas we just had a 2017 Alpina B7 some issues and pulled a mouse house out of it. Had to replace quite a bit of electronics and wires.

At my previous dealership I was at we had a showroom car with the same issue.

If a rodent has been there once, either he or one of his friends WILL be back. Rats and mice leave 'scent' trails as they travel as a way of letting other rats know where to go for food and/or shelter.

Traps will do nothing. Moth balls as a repellent is an old wive's tale.

Get an empty spray bottle from a hardware store. At the grocery store, find the absolute hottest hot sauce you can find. You want the stuff that will ignite buildings. Mix a small amount of hot sauce with water so that the consistency is such that a spray bottle will be able to spray it. Open your hood, and lightly mist your entire engine bay and aprons, paying particular attention to where you're seeing evidence of infestation. Repeat this once per week for a few months, and eventually they'll give up on your car and move to another.

I work in an industry that deals with this on a VERY regular basis. Good luck.

He seems to dislike Mercedes quite explicitly. Could be a valuable member on this forum.

I had a rat intrusion accident in a garage when I left some candies in the trunk for a hot summer week. It was interesting to notice that of the three candy types available they ate only two. It made me wonder even though I'm no scientist. Never left any food since - no recurrence. And yes, I used some spray around the garage too (not sure it worked).

AFAIK rats prefer cars parked close to scrapyards. That is they appear attracted by food first, warmth in cold weather next. It should be worth it keeping the garage clean/tidy. No food.

my dumbass college roomate brings a HUGE freezer bag full of various nuts and rasins and puts in our kithcen. philly is already rat central... we are graduating and have a 3 week break before graduation.

come back to apartment....leasing company has been showing our apartment and thus left our bedroom doors open

now I used to see Stuart scurry across the kitchen counter and dive behind the oven many a times...

go into my room... i see pistachio shells on the floor....but i haven't ate any pistachios.

go into a huge pile of clothes and continue to find more pistahio shells. they nested in one my drawers and ate pishathios there...

get to the kitchen...three rats scurry somewhere...

by this time every muscle has locked in my body from fear a little rodent possibly touching my sneakers

return to home base(room)...stare into the mirror and feel as if ive been defeated on the battle field and ready for death

go to kitchen reach behind mini fridge and find said freezer bag with over probably 5 pounds of nuts consumed and about of a pound of raisins left behind....smart little buggers!!

find and replace rat...mouse lol

totally irreverent but hope yall enjoyed the battle of stuart little.

had to go sleep at my girls apartment and get coddled to soothe my anxiety lol.

gotta seal up the cracks...traps are effective....if your medieval like me....posion is always best

Why not a ready pepper spray?

An interesting idea. You can promote it by putting something they like underneath that car, perhaps. Not a car, seriously, but can they really be distracted, not only deterred? Say, regarding a warm engine in a garage: a warm garage should make it unnecessary to go under the hood. And a couch. And a TV, of course.

Well, luckily they put all those covers and plastic bits on modern cars so you can't get to the engine...you, not the rats, the rats can get there easy.

You'll need to remove those. Remove your belly pan and spray it too, rodents like to nest there also.

I had a buddy who's car was damaged by squirrels or rats. Dealership told him that the wiring and insulation was of a type of material that attracted rodents.

It's soy based. There are multiple class-action lawsuits against a few manufacturers since the problem is so widespread. Honda developed an insulating tape you can buy from the parts department, it's laced with capsaicin.
