That would be the CT5-V. However, there is no guarantee it will get the new Blackwing V8 yet.

Either way, I disagree this engine is a "scary thing". All three German luxury makes have turbocharged V8 engines making over 600hp today. Furthermore, Cadillac already has them all beat handily in power output with the 640hp LT4 in the soon-to-die CTS-V, yet few were very interested in that car.

Precisely what I am thinking. I have seen -maybe- two or three of the CT6s since they were first produced, cant imagine Ill see many CT6s with this powerplant. Perhaps that would be different if Cadillac shoved it into one of their SUVs, as that is what I see on the roads with any frequency.

I agree, though people do go for the SUVs. Aside from that, Cadillac car sales are pathetic and GM's arrogance never ceases.

The people who buy their CUVs and Escalade are stupid and don't know any better. Those vehicles are very poorly built. At NAIAS the XT5's doors made a hollow tin can noise when I knocked on them and the cup holder cover wobbles in all 10-15 XT5s I've experienced over the years. The Escalade consistently has some wobbly and visible interior panel gaps.

Right. My point was that the M-Sport version (V-Sport) is pushing 550hp. I can see the new V putting out 700+hp since the current unit is pushing 640hp. Coupled with AWD, it could be a very quick sedan. That's the point I was making. All speculation on my part, of course.

I would suggest that the writing is pretty clearly on the wall - Cadillac is backing away from the premium sedan V8 horsepower race. In fact, that plays right in line with Cadillac's new strategy:

The other thing to be aware of here is that, starting with March production, the 750i will get the 523hp N63B44T3 that debuted in the M850i last year, and the M550i will get that same engine in July. No, it's not quite 550hp, but it's close enough for vehicle weight, transmission, final drive, etc. to be as a big a factor in determining the better performer as the engine itself.

The CT6-V will be priced in between the M550i and the 750i (both of which are likely to see a small increase in price when they get the new engine):
