The reported gang rape of a New Jersey coed who later killed herself wasn't the first alleged sex crime at a small Rockland County Catholic college.

At least four sex assaults have been reported in recent years at Dominican College, including the brutal attack on freshman Megan Wright.

A similar gang rape was alleged in 2002 in the same dormitory where Wright lived, and another assault was reported a month before Wright was attacked. Those cases, like Wright's, resulted in no prosecutions.

In mandated federal reports, Dominican - which has about 1,300 full-time and 600 part-time students - reported one forcible sex crime in 2005 and two in 2006. It's unclear if the attack on Wright was counted in the reports.

Wright, 19, was disoriented after leaving a booze-fueled party at the college in May 2006. She was ushered into a dorm room and raped by three men, according to a lawsuit filed by her mother, Cynthia McGrath.

A hospital exam confirmed Wright suffered "substantial injuries, including bruising and lacerations" indicating a rape.

But right after the attack, one of the suspects emerged into a dormitory hallway and allegedly displayed a note before a security camera that was purportedly written and signed by Wright. It said, "I WANT To HAVE SEX." Authorities decided it was evidence of consent and dropped the case.

Wright's attorney said "the school refuses" to hand over the tape.

Devastated by the savage attack and authorities' decision, Wright, of Ramsey, NJ, killed herself seven months after the rape, her family says.

Two of the men who went unpunished in the attack are now jocks enjoying successful campus careers.

The duo - among three accused in the lawsuit - grew up in Linden, NJ, and were all-stars for St. Mary's HS in Elizabeth.

One of the men, a 6-foot, 180-pound basketball point guard, played for Dominican College in 2006, the year of the alleged assault. The other, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound forward, was at Dominican that year, but wasn't on the team.

Both left Dominican the year after the attack.

McGrath's lawsuit claims Dominican didn't conduct an investigation, and "steered" Wright to an Orangetown police detective who was a part-time instructor at the college.

On Friday, the mom demanded a state attorney general probe.

A lawyer for the college yesterday denied "every allegation" in the suit.

dominican is near where I lived as a toddler. not sure if it is even a third rate school. if true this story is pretty sad.

I lived in Rockland all my life and just moved to Westchester..I know a couple of people who went to Dominican

You took that comment a little too far man. I know you meant no harm, but it was in poor taste.

I heard it from a psychologist whom spoke to our health class in college. She dealt with a lot of male victims of rape. She made the point very loud and clear as some of the girls chuckled in class and told them that it does happen and it happens a lot more often than anyone realizes. It's just something that will never make the news. And a lot of guys have had their lives ruined by having this happen or been falsely accused of rape.

Rapist can all share a spot in hell and rape each other.

happened at a local college around here too. the girl didn't commit suicide but those jocks are still walking around as innocent guys. it's tough for the attorneys to take facts into account when there's so much alcohol involved. just sad..
