2013 Model S P85 for $37k vs new model 3 for $55k

So which would you get? The model s has free unlimited supercharging. There will be more deals like this making getting a new model 3 less attractive.

Is free Supercharging a big deal? We'd use either as a city car and 99% of charging would be at home. I can't see going all EV and would just use an ICE car for road trips, negating any value in the Supercharger network for us.

Model S is huge and holds no interest to me. But the 3 is an ugly muffin, so I suppose my answer is wait for the Taycan.

Many hotels have EV hookups across the country now. I’d get the S, the 3 is much smaller and therefore less practical for a variety of activities.

The three is one of the ugliest cars sold on the market right now.

How long does the battery last in an S before it has to be replaced?

isn't there some sort of disclaimer when you buy a used tesla? I am not expert but I thought I heard something about when you buy a used tesla the warranty on the car or parts of the warranty are no longer available? a neighbor of mine has 2 of them and I would have sworn he was telling me something about that but maybe he was mistaken. I thought there was some sort of hiccup when it comes to buying a used tesla, anyone know anything about this that could clear it up for me?

**just did a quick google search. looks like if you buy a used unit through tesla dealer you get the warranty but if you buy from a third party or non tesla dealer you do not. the battery warranty however travels with the car from buyer to buyer up to 125k miles.

This was a CPO Tesla so it has a warranty to 100k miles though admittedly that's not that far away as it has 72k miles. It is a loaded P85 with every option however.

I've heard they can go for quite awhile without showing wear. Haven't heard of one needing replacement thus far. The battery warranty is for 8 years unlimited miles.

Having seen the former Tesla engineer that started his own YouTube and rebuilds Teslas from wrecked vehicles he buys...... I wouldn't buy a Tesla period.

The fact they don't even offer you parts for replacement, or support outside of their dealership network is bogus.

It's just a tech company, not an automaker.

A used Tesla, especially one with enough miles on it to now be worth $37k, is a very bad idea.

I'd roll with the 3.

It's intriguing. I like Teslas. Everyone's life and needs are different. I would do your own market comparison and think about your needs and how you would use the car. If you can, take it for a test drive. Do it and see what you think. If it fits your lifestyle, it is appealing. If not, BMW's are a safe choice.

Yeah I've seen those vids too. There is a whole cottage industry dedicated to rebuilding salvage Tesla's that's staring to develop. I think he rebuilt a model s for like $9k net or something like that.

Yep...Apple pretty much does the same thing, and look at what a failure that has been.

Lol, I'm an Android guy so it's platform is useless to me. Though the aftermarket components world has done a pretty good job at skirting around them. I mean the screen repair industry alone took what was an entire replacement phone down to techs giving you a new screen for $80-100.

I've seen you're heavily invested into Telsa. As a shareholder, what would you change if you truly had a say?
