Ya' gotta love the French. That's a gorgeous concept.

The French occasionally happen upon a genius design idea -- but only after dozens upon dozens of failures. That's its tradition, particularly in this and the last century. French design culture has always been a dichotomy: ultraconservative, elitism- and superiority-steeped status quo in conflict with creative thinking so far outside of the box it can only be described as being as experimental as throwing pasta against a wall to see if it sticks. At least the Italians know how to make and cook pasta.

Which three other cars? I can see the original 504 in every element.

No they don't. They gotta put butter on 'em. A good steak needs nothing.
Just the fact that the French have to put either butter or cream on nearly everything tells you something. The only culinary thing the French do really, really well is baked goods. And, well, butter. #Overrated

Or an alfa romeo 2000 gtv: But then again, the 504 was an italian design, not french (pininfarina) But I'm not a real fan of 'retro designs' for concepts, as they lack originality. Its a lazy way of designing with an easy score on appreciation of the public but in my view it rarely launches a truely original new feature. A concept should be an exploration on new ways to design imho. I usually think the concepts of Peugeots' sister brand Citroen much more radical and revolutionary; I think that Citroen has made some of the best concepts ever.

Wow I am in love!!! Wonderful.
Part of why I love my 1M so much is that it uses a sharp 3 box design like older classic coupes like the Lancia Fulvia, NSU TT, Alfa GTA, BMW 2002, E30, Renault 8....list goes on and on. This has that feel to it. Looks fantastic. Years ago Lancia introduced their Fulvia concept and I was ridiculously excited about it. It never got produced and Lancia has all but faded away completely. I still think that car could have saved them, philosophically....

There were many coupes with 3 box design in the 70s and 80s. Those 2 you mentioned are more discussed in car circles but they certainly weren't the first or last word in coupes...

Its presented next to a 504 and they say multiple 504 features were used as inspiration.
I call that retro, but I guess anyone can give their own meaning to that word. But I hardly class peugeot as a revolutionairy designing brand (although I own a peugeot). They're more the french VW. Citroen is the revolutionairy brand in PSA (owned several ones too), but thats an easy one because Citroen is (or should I say was) probably one of the most revolutionairy brands ever.

Wine isn't culinary. It's a libation. Wine's used in culinary pursuits, of course ... but only wine not good enough to drink (and that's almost all French wine, hehe).

Point taken! Edit: 'but only wine not good enough to drink by itself.'
