Why is BMW missing from this list?
Forbes.com List of Highest Quality Luxury Cars
Even with maintenance included, it still doesn't make the list. What gives? |

I think anyone not familiar with Idrive may consider it a negative when only driving a car with this feature for only a short time. I do not agree with Idrive as being a negative.

cuz it's the list of "highest quality" "luxury" cars. bmw is neither "higest quality" nor "luxury". i think bmw falls under "highest performing" and probably the only one on the list among the mass-producing company... maybe porsche would make it in the list too. (excluding bootique manufacturers, like ferrari, bugatti, etc...)

But e-class, m, a6 all made it. how about 5er? I would understand the 3-series not making the list because of the "class", but 5er didn't make it? I think i should have posted this on e60.

BMW isn't particularly high quality, that's why. Look at all the problems people deal with on these boards.
Now, I don't know comparatively with other cars that are or aren't on the list, but I certainly don't consider BMW to be one of the highest quality cars. Best cars, yes, quality, no.

5s and 7s are even less reliable than the 3s (just read the 5 and 7 forums on here and bimmerfest). I equate BMW=ultimate driving machine but quality definitely doesn't come to mind.

We'll my 2000 Audi A4 is more luxurious than my 335i, but hit the gas and you realize while one is the ultimate driving machine and the other is not . Who cares about all these reviews anyways...if you love what you drive that's all the matters. Besides, these things just turn you into a fanboy anyways.

Just wondering what these reporters are smoking. Or just getting paid well by someone else other than Forbes.com. Seriously A6 has terrible reliability issues as well.

Regarding "BMW not reliable"...
According to various statistics I've seen--some of those initial quality things as well as the Consumer Reports statistical results, the 3 series is above average in reliability. Barely, but nevertheless still above average. And here's the kicker: Mercedes Benz hasn't made a reliable car model this decade. At least as far as I can tell. For certain MB has been less reliable than BMW overall.

I don't think I'd want a BMW out of warranty. Even if they only had a few issues, the issues are so expensive to fix. I can work on my own cars, but with newer cars, especially something like a BMW, almost nothing is a quick and cheap fix.

What are you talking about? BMW isn't reliable? Doesn't have quality service? Why are you on this site then?BMW is known for quality, if you own a BMW go open the door and then shut it. Hear that!? yeah that sound you just heard says quality. I bet the Mercury Grand Marquis is alot better quality than BMW's, oh yeah. That was probably the stupidest statement you could have made... you should probably find a dark dusty corner crawl into it and stay there till you realized what you did wrong. Better yet, just crawl into an attic and dont come out |

I'm sure the 5ers recent crash test misery had something to do with it as well.

Not sure why BMW is not there. But their list does not jive with this one.

That list has Buick at the top of everything; Overall Dependability, Powertrain Dependability, Body & Interior Dependability, Features & Accessories Dependability. Way back when, before I was born, Buick made great cars. That's FAR from the case today. Since the first list also had the Grand Marquis in the running for highest quality luxury car I think I'll just disregard both lists. |

The survey is only for the first 90 days of ownership.............doesn't mean anything most people keep their cars longer than 90 days
