Switching plates to get out of a fix-it ticket?

Is it possible to get out of a fixit ticket by putting your plates on another car (same color) that is stock?
Probably a really dumb question but it is hypothetical

Depends what you’re trying to fix. But I had the issue with several things ie exhaust, tints etc. I just took online pictures of someone else’s car never had an issue. The exhaust I had to get inspected at a police station. However I was running straight dump and just hung a muffler in the back; guy never looked under car just verified I had a muffler. Also never had me turn my car on.

Long story short; yes just use someone else’s pics lol

It would likely work, but if during the inspection they check the VIN you're toast. In Ontario they would seize the plates, tow the car and hand you several summonses.

This could also slide into criminal territory, can you say "obstruct police or attempt to obstruct justice"?

But go ahead, you'll probably get away with it.

Sure. 99% of the time it’ll work but do you really want to find out what happens if they find out it’s not your car?

I have a tow hook now, but I’ve successfully double side taped it the the front of the bumper where it belongs, showed and officer, got the signature, then removed when I got home.

I sourced a stock exhaust don't want to take that serious of a risk over a small fine.

Turns out there's guys out there just forging the signatures and handing it to the judge with the cash first

Where I live you can get out of a fix-it ticket by paying a fine. It's like $200 or you can even bring photos to court to prove compliance and get it dismissed for $20. Not a big deal in the slightest. Sounds like this is taking place somewhere with no freedom.

As far as switching plates that falls in the category of things to NOT do if you have questions.
