paypal dispute...

sigh....this is really frustrating
About a month ago, i sold a set of Maya DLS 20" with tires on eBay. The eBay item description was clear that it had some tread but not much (coin in tread picture), and curb rashes.

Now, the buyer got the item on Apr 25th. Got the wheels on 26th and called me because the tires were worn unevenly. I knew nothing about this matter since I used to drive the car with it before. He wanted some kind of refund because of the unsuspected work and effort were needed because of this matter. I refused, since there was NO evidence (documents, or pictures that described the matter). He sends me an invoice for $160, 2 weeks later. I did not pay the guy of course.

Now a month later, he files a paypal dispute, saying that evidence against tire-tread wear is strong since I mentioned that I "used to brake harshly" and "used to drive upto NJ from FL all the time". I did mention that i needed to brake harshly on the tires on couple of occasions and that there should be NO implications on the tires.

Now, he goes onto saying the rims are BENT. I had it balanced and rode it on one of my buddy's X5 right before the sale and there was NO evidence of wheel warping and whatnot.

There's only 500 character limit to my response and this is very frustrating to deal with. Any tips guys?

Caveat emptor...

If you are being honest with us...there was never any INTENT on your part to defraud or conceal....sounds like the buyer did not do his due diligence when buying the rims/tires...

He should have asked for more specific pictures if he was so concerned about how the tires wore...

Yeah, I think you can attach files. If you can, send up everything with a summary of the events at the beginning on a word document with pictures. Not sure if you can or not. As long as he doesn't call his CC company, paypal really isn't going to do anything to you. They have weak customer protection, until the CC company starts calling.

i never had this issue with pay pal, but once i sold a boat and had a similar issue. what i did, was agree to pay for half of the repair, as the buyer (as did your buyer) got a smoking deal.

just my feedback. luckily it's not a ton of money. your max exposure is 80 bucks.
