BMW i4 will be the name for the production iVision Dynamics

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
There was interesting paragraph in one press release:

“By 2025, our global vehicle portfolio will include 25 fully- or part-electric models. At last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, we unveiled our take on the future of e‑mobility with the BMW iVision Dynamics. This vehicle will become reality: we will build it in Munich – as the BMW i4,” Krüger added.

Concept is pretty cool looking. Front may need some work.

I dig the i4 Concept. This should have came out before the i3!

Time to put it into production. I'm so tired of seeing all these cool futuristic looking cars never becoming reality.

That's why I never went into Transportation Design. Because these companies would never make cool futuristic looking vehicles 20 years ago. I got tired of going to car shows and seeing these amazing exterior and interior designs concepts. But they would never go into production. At the time they were still making boxy square vehicles. What was the point of busting your ass, doing kick ass sleek designs and never having a manufacture ever produce it.

NOW is the time to finally start executing!!! Otherwise what is the fucking point?

Nice start....the "affordable" BMW EV is HIDEOUS!

If I were to buy an EV today TESLA is the only one I'd get.

BMW has time, but they have a lot of work to do

lolll to be fair though they gotta change up a lot of shit so to have 25 elec/hybrid vehicles is pretty good in 6 years. looks like this might be the last gen of these gas powered cars. pretty sure i already read somewhere about german passing some law or something regarding production of elec vechiles. something along the lines of by 2030 they all have to be elec or someshit.

I thought they were gonna shelve the i division and just integrate it into their normal models.

Judging by the pictures. It roughly looks like the size of the F30. Just my opinion.

I think it was SCOTT that mentioned that the concept was built around the existing 4 Series Gran Coupe so it is roughly that size. And considering that future i branded vehicles will be built on the new electrified CLAR platform (CLAR WE), it's likely the production vehicle will similarly share with the next generation 4 Series.

They are shelving the specialized vehicle platforms, not the division. Future i Division vehicles will derive from series vehicles just like M Division vehicles do.

2025 is the year the very stringent CAFE standards imposed by the government are scheduled to go into effect. The automakers had to respond or potentially go out of business. Without these high-mpg requirements (which may be reduced soon), electric vehicles would have come much further down the road.

I like the i4 concept. I just would like it to have a more traditional kidney grill, even if it isn't open. The grill outlines just need some vertical slats to connect it with design language of the past and current.

Essentially that is what it is, yes.

Future "i#" vehicles will be based on the standard gas/diesel equivalent of the same numeric designation. They will feature different aesthetics, including the closed-off kidney grille from the iVision concept and may even feature some different sheetmetal, fascias, and headlights in some cases. However, they will not (in the vase majority of cases) feature the same departure from the series model as the iVision concept did from its donor 4 Series GC. The same will apply to the new line of "iX#" SAVs as well - they'll be based on the standard series SAVs with some differentiation in accordance with the i-brand aesthetics and identity.

Still hideous but a nice attempt in any case. Also echoing the same sentiments about getting a Tesla instead of this
