I'll be there. I have family that live in Manchester, so I get free tickets every year.

I've been wanting to go for years but I've never had the time to actually pull it off. Some day.

Where is M-Town?

Will you drive your car to Bonnaroo? I'd be a little nervous parking it in a field full of drunks.

'Free? Yeah, I think I can swing that.'

If you wait too long, there won't be ANY jam bands playing at Bonnaroo.

I appreciate Metallica, it just doesn't fit with the Bonnaroo attitude, IMO.

Tool, on the other hand, was awesome last year. Incredible, twisted videos playing on the big screens next to the stage (someone told me they were based on the band's music videos). Extraordinarily entertaining.

Tell me about it.

I need to make it to Dave. It's been 4 summers easy since I last saw him live. He's usually always on the Bonnaroo ticket. Same with Jack Johnson, Phish, Howie Day even was on it one year.

I agree with Metallica not fitting the bill, their a little too heavy. I always pictures Bonnaroo as a chill, laid back, cruise and listen to really good music. Not smash your skull Metallica

Hell no I didn't take my car. I live in Memphis. But I had a great time there.

Glad to hear it.

Ozzfest is outdoors in August. I would be dead or in the back of an ambulance by the time Metallica got on stage. It will be around 110 before you factor in the body heat and crap.

On the other hand NIN will be here soon. I think Trent will still kick butt. Nice air conditioned American Airlines Center.

If you take appropriate steps, you would enjoy the festival:

Don't get hammered, pace yourself
Drink a bottle of water for every beer
Avoid hard alcohol
Sunscreen
Big hat
Exercise every day

You only live once, make it count.

Metallica opened with Creeping Death:

Most of the songs from the show are on YouTube.

That's A LOT of water.
I really want to see them but it will be hot beyond my tolerance level. Have you ever been in Dallas in mid August? It can be nauseating to even the youngsters much less my old ass.

Metallica is probably playing in the evening - just go for them, skip the daytime heat.
