I'm nauseated seeing the Tesla win. That said, extend the race to a half-mile, and it would've finished in the middle of the pack....unless it ran out of juice first.

So why wasn't the Dodge Demon in the race? It supposed to be a drag race, so I'll post the real winner for you. The Demon has numerous articles and videos that are stating 1/4 mile times of 9.45, .9 seconds faster (a lifetime in drag racing) than the Tesla and 15 MPH faster. Take that Tesla.

Nearly every acceleration test ever recorded has been held over a 1/4 mile. 0-60 has always been just that - zero to sixty. There's absolutely nothing to discredit here. This was the test and the Tesla won.

I'm at work so I can't see the video, but would the tesla have won still if the driver had his eyes closed?

On June 1st Motor Trend hinted at a Demon on Instagram. In a pile of Best Driver’s Car keys was a little box with a Demon logo on it. Gotta be more to the story.... ??

While we’re creating biased hypothetical scenarios for wound licking, what would happen if we changed the rules to say the race must be run without gasoline? Or with your kids in the backseat? Or some arbitrary emissions standard? 1/8th mile? Oh I know, the winner is the car that gets its next software update the fastest Facts are facts. On public roads, where the Tesla belongs, almost nothing is faster in a straight line. No need to feel sick about it, unless you’re a hater that just wants to see it lose

Funny, the Miata, which is pictured in the still preview, seems to have not made the cut.

Johnny Lieberman was checking the USAF guy out lol.
I wish they tested the regular Stingray instead of the Grand Sport because I don’t think it’s as fast in a straight line. It is faster in the corners though. And the A8 would have also done a smidge better. Pretty sure that was an M7. |

No 720S because they had to hand Ferrari a victory for BDC.
No Demon because they hand Tesla a victory in the drag race. |

I think it's truly spectacular that the Tesla can do such things that would have been unfathomable years ago...
However, I would like to keep a few things in mind- 1) It still weighs over 5k pounds and cannot handle at all. 2) Last year, when they tried to take one around a track, it couldn't finish one lap without running out of juice... a drag race is oddly enough the easiest test of all. 3) How many times can it do this? 4) It is a car that costs over 100K. If Tesla can do such amazing feats in a smaller, lighter car that can keep juice for a long time and can do this repeatedly, then I think they get a unanimous victory. It only needs to have the handling of a regular 3 series... at that point, game over and the market is theirs... but until this happens, these are tests only to show ultimate capability and not really usable reality. |

yep tesla won off the line with a full charge, somewhat predictable
but did everyone miss the fact the 488 is carrying +10mph and only slower by 0.1s, and rwd - crazy to think how much quicker the inevitable stradale/speciale version will be with more power, tyre grip and less weight that is the real winner here imo |
