Dodge Demon's A/C Boosts Its 800+HP

Kinda interesting

More about this dragger's design - interesting that with all of this the Tesla is still faster to 30MPH!

Tesla is just instant torque but it drops off significantly as you gain speed. Still dint understand the fuss a $30k mustang GT will kill a tesla on the highway.

It's a interesting concept but isn't A/C not allowed on most drag strips?

The Demon is so fast that it's NHRA banned! *
*Actually it's not, it's just that because it's capable of getting below that 10 second mark that it is ... because at that level you need a full cage, flame suit, etc but unless you're very into racing the average driver won't get below 10s anyway.

As to the A/C, it's usually asked that you turn it off so you don't drip water all over the track ... Not sure what the story is for the Demon's implementation and if that'd be a problem or not ...

Now if they combined water scavenging from the A/C into a water injection system like the m4 gts that would be the ticket

And with the safety of drag radials front and back not even Ralph Nader could complain! Maybe even a sequel to his best-seller is in store: "Safe at every Speed"

The fuss is that, for most people in the USA, performance is equivalent to 0-60 and drag-strip metrics. This is a simple fact. And that fuss indeed sells cars and provides bragging rights. So it was very smart of Tesla to simply deliver more amps to "beat" the fastest cars.

Would love to see the Demon or the Tesla on a track. 0 to 60 means little to me. As some of you mentioned, a Tesla can beat almost any regular production car today on that basis alone.

yeah, except neither is made for that use. The Tesla is meant to be a luxury sedan and the Demon was built for a single purpose: 1/4 mile.

But as long as we're dreaming, I'd love to see any of them try to cross a river!

Oh good, another debate about xx straight line car and some tesla that's faster in some given thoroughly unimportant metric.

Demon is ridiculously fast, american car for america I guess. Theres a tesla on youtube that is gutted and on slicks, makes enough power on 1/4 mile to beat many cars and its consistent ! 10 sec 1/4 as well. Hilarious

Straight line is usually the only way to compete on the street, even tho you shouldnt but you shouldnt drive more than 65mph on highway but I go over everytime!

It would be interesting to see the Demon on the nurburgring ring. I wonder what kind of time it would get.

Probably not good at all...First of all, it's a heavy car, but most importantly the drag radial tires that it comes with have compromised lateral grip because they are designed specifically for longitudinal grip. On a track with 160 turns, lateral grip is pretty important...

Exactly, not to mention the demon's weight and spring setup is specifically built for drag racing. If you were going to track it at any level of aggression you'd have to re-build the suspension, wheels, and tires.

The Demon is a super fast drag racer, built specifically for drag racing, not track racing.
