They should do separate categories for Turbo and NA.

I think what's most amazing is the fact that the 5L V10 has dominated the 5+ category for three years.

I'm still amazed that it is. Audi's new V10TT seems to be more economical. Power and Tq figures for the engine are amazing too

There is nothing innovative about a V10 that needs forced induction to go.

Sorry but I can't agree, and this is not my Audi head on here. The RS6 engine is a masterpiece, when you think about it, not only does it produce more power and torque over a wider rev range than just about any other engine regardless of class or capacity but it's the most economical and with lower CO2 reading than any other in it's class, and all this in a car which weighs more than all the other and with a transmission which couldn't be classed as the best type to promote economy. It might not have deserved to win but it's a technical wonder that did deserved some recognition.

The M5 engine is brilliant but to be awarded the title once again is a joke to me, there is many other equally impressive engine more deserving. The very fact that BMW won so many title could lead people to believe that it's a fix and with 6 out of 12 wins you would be hard pressed to disagree with them.

That's a great point. That's what I had in mind when I made my point.

I also had in mind the way Tiff Needel described the very smooth linear power delivery from the engine. He said there was no sudden burst of power, and went on to say that the engine kept going and going. He then likened the M5 to the Maclaren F1 and RS6 to the Veyron.

Economy is just another way to secure the win. The engine is more outstanding yet doesnt cost in the economical side of things, infact it has a lower C02 reading as you pointed out.

Losers always speak about conspiracies.

VW makes good economy engines.

Conspiracies aside, the RS6 engine is much better than the M5 and E63's engine. I'm suprised it didnt win for the above mentioned reasons.

Turbo charging to get to just 580 hp?? Pathetic.

That engine is actually puting out more than 580bhp. It's actually around the 600 mark, maybe more.

Also, forget how Audi does it. They produced an engine that performs better than it's rivals and is more economical. Simply put, that is a victory.

If Audi could say 600 hp they would.

Forced induction is not looked down upon...the N54 has won 2 years in a row, the top spot.

There is no finesse to a V10 TT making only 580 hp. None.

Engines are often underrated. Think of BMW's 3.0TT in the 335i. Think of the GT-R's engine.

If we are going to talk finesse, then Tiff Needel has already praised the engine so much, as have others who have reviewed the car. Also, nothing can change the fact it is more powerfull than it's rivals yet more economical. Nothing can change that.

lol. Great point. I guess it depends what you're looking for. If we're going to talk revs, then consider the 650Nm of Tq Audi's V10TT has from 1500-6250rpm compared to BMW's 520Nm

I guess it depends on what you're looking for then

I agree on the bhp numbers. It's getting insane. I think economy and weight should be the bigger focus now.

I appreciate your spy photos and everything but the V10 TT will never win like the LS7 will never win.

You hide inferior engineering with displacement / forced induction.

This is not about raw power. It is about hp / liter, about core engineering. The N54 wins because of the bucket of stuff BMW efficient dynamics.
